  • Patent number: 4488926
Abstract: Apparatus for securing a synthetic thermoplastic strap in a band-like form around an object includes a strap support with a clamping device, a stretching device, and a welding device cooperating with the strap support for holding, stretching, welding and cutting the strap. These various devices can be displaced from the surface of the strap support so that the strap can be inserted laterally onto the support. Strap guidance members are provided at the opposite ends of the strap support. One strap guidance member forms a part of the welding device and includes a guide member. The guide member is retractable away from the surface of the strap support during the welding operation so that it does not interfere with the movement of the strap parts being joined together.

  • Patent number: 4398572
Abstract: A hooper device for joining together a pair of overlapping steel bands includes a band tensioning device for stretching the bands with a punching and stamping tool including a lower tool section arranged on a base plate of the device toward which an upper tool section is moved. The upper tool section is arranged in a tool support which is structured in the form of a rocker and the tool support is connected by means of a reset device with a driving mechanism. The driving mechanism includes a manual lever having a driving cam with a radial cam which acts upon a pressure roller arranged at the tool support. The rocker construction of the tool support provides a simple, weight saving, operationally safe arrangement for the hooper device.

  • Patent number: 4380255
Abstract: Hooper apparatus for joining together a pair of bands including a first motor connected with an output shaft through a plural-stage reduction gear system wherein one gear stage of the system is connected with a second motor which enables a faster driving speed of the apparatus with a lower driving force. A compensating clutch is provided on the driving side of the one gear stage, preferably an overrunning clutch, with the clutch being arranged to be used when the driving speed of the second motor has decreased to an extent that it is overtaken by the driving speed conditional on the first motor which carries a tension roller engaging the bands to be joined. The first motor then operates to drive the output shaft with a lower circumferential speed and with a higher driving force.

  • Patent number: 4089352
Abstract: An apparatus for the form-locking or positive connection of two overlapping band portions, comprising a first tool movably mounted in a housing and driven by means of a drive and a second tool arranged to rest upon a base plate member fixedly attached at one side with the housing. The base plate member is releasably connected with the housing by means of a counter-holder member at the side opposite the side where the base plate member is fixedly attached with the housing. The housing is hingedly connected either with the counter-holder member or the base plate member in such a manner that the counter-holder member and the base plate member can be brought into and out of engagement with one another.
