Abstract: A venue positioning method and system. The location of one or more hand held devices can be determined with respect to one or more VPS (Venue Positioning System) devices within a venue (e.g., a sports stadium, concert arena, etc.) based on wireless communication between the hand held device(s) and the VPS device(s). A service can then be wirelessly delivered to the hand held device(s) based on the determined location of the hand held device(s) with respect to the VPS device(s) within or proximate to the venue. In some embodiments, the VPS devices may be implemented as transponders.
