  • Patent number: 5927448
Abstract: A shock absorber capable of exhibiting increased shock absorbing characteristics and constantly ensuring desired characteristics irrespective of applications intended. A cylinder is formed therein with a first hollow section of a large diameter and a second hollow section of a small diameter. A piston includes an end wall and a peripheral wall and is formed into a size sufficient to be moved in the second hollow section. The peripheral wall is formed with a plurality of orifices and the end wall is formed with a piston rod insertion through-hole and at least one viscous fluid passage hole. The piston rod is provided thereon with first and second flanges, which are spaced from each other at an interval larger than a thickness of the end wall of the piston and arranged so as to interpose the end wall therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5169131
Abstract: A shock absorber capable of effectively functioning even in case of emergency or abnormality, significantly reducing the manufacturing cost and highly simplifying the structure. A piston is arranged so as to divide a liquid chamber defined in a casing into two liquid chamber sections and a liquid passage is arranged so as to cause the chamber sections to communicate with each other. Also, a movable guide member is provided in the casing and a spring is interposed between the guide member and a flange of an actuation rod, so that the return spring permits both actuation rod and movable guide member to carry out the return operation. Thus, the shock absorber eliminates arrangement of an accumulator in the shock absorber.

  • Patent number: 5165509
Abstract: A bidirectional retaining clutch capable of stopping rotation of a rotated object such as a revolving shaft of a pivoted cover of a personal computer, a door sheave of a sliding door or the like in one direction at any desired position while keeping it freely rotatable, as well as ensuring free rotation of the rotated object in an opposite direction as desired when torque of a predetermined level or more is applied. An outer cylindrical structure arranged so as to rotated relative to a shaft includes a pair of roller positioning members each provided on an inner surface with roller receiving recesses of an elliptic shape. The rollers which are received in the recesses selectively move in the recesses so as to permit the shaft to be revolved relative to the outer cylindrical structure in one direction while preventing revolution of the shaft in an opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4574423
Abstract: A rotary damper with a directional property is disclosed which is capable of being simplified in structure, manufactured with a low cost, and stably and precisely operated. The rotary damper is constructed in such a manner that a clutch spring is interposed between a revolving shaft and a rotor to selectively carry out the integral rotation of the rotor with the shaft or the stop of the rotor independent from the shaft.
