Abstract: A transition portion (4) has a surface (14) that is formed extending upward. The surface (14) is a surface formed extending upward so as to face a bottom portion (6a). Specifically, the transition portion (4) has a cross-sectional shape in which upper edge portions of side portions (8a) are bent inward. As the surface (14) approaches a main terminal body (3) from a sealing portion (22), the surface (14) gradually separates away from the bottom portion (6a) and the edge portions of the surface (14) gradually open outward and connect to side portions (8b) of the main terminal body (3). The surface (14) is formed so as to be curved upward, in a cross-section, from the end portion of the sealing portion (22).

  • Patent number: 8526102
Abstract: The invention provides a PLC-type DP-QPSK demodulator that reduces connection loss between a polarization beam splitter and a 90-degree hybrid circuit and aims at reducing the manufacturing cost and an optical transmission system using the same. In an embodiment of the invention, a PLC-type DP-QPSK demodulator that receives a DP-QPSK signal includes one PLC chip having a planar lightwave circuit. Input ports and output ports of signal light are provided at an input end and at an output end of the PLC chip, respectively. Within the planar lightwave circuit, there are integrated a polarization beam splitter that splits the DP-QPSK signal into an X-polarization QPSK signal and a Y-polarization QPSK signal, and two 90-degree hybrid circuits that mix the X-polarization QPSK signal and local oscillation light and the Y-polarization QPSK signal and local oscillation light, respectively, split each QPSK signal into orthogonal components I, Q and output them.

  • Patent number: 8509942
Abstract: Surface 27 of molten metal within a mold is constantly monitored by camera 25. Camera 25 records the surface from an obliquely upward position of the mold in an area that does not affect the casting process. Various analyzing frames such as analysis band 35, molten metal pattern 37, and injection monitoring part 43, are set with respect to the information recorded by the camera 25. The analysis band 35 includes the surface (molten metal part 31c), and is set to a predetermined width so that the direction of surface change is in the longitudinal direction. The width of the analysis band 35 is set as wide as possible in a range that does not block the discharge part (molten metal part 31a). Inside the analysis band 35, the rate of change of the binary data is calculated by the analyzing part.
