  • Patent number: 4997373
Abstract: An artificial tooth for molars is of a double structure comprising an occlusal region replaceable by a material which is more durable than a synthetic resin and is selected from the group consisting of a metal, a ceramic, a composite resin and an amalgam, and a bottom region. The present artificial tooth may further include a junction region having a maximum thickness of 0.05 to 3.0 mm, which serves to make a bond between the occlusal and bottom regions of the artificial tooth.

  • Patent number: 4969817
Abstract: An artificial tooth has a basal plane in which an areal ratio of a labial or buccal subplane to a lingual subplane is in a range of 10:1 to 1:10, and an angle that both subplanes make with a dental axis, i.e., an angle of retention, assumes a concave shape and is in a range equal to or larger than 45.degree. to less than 180.degree.. A retaining hole can be provided in the basal plane of the artificial tooth so as to further improve its performance.

Abstract: An artificial tooth has a length of its buccal side substantially equal to that of a natural tooth and a length of its lingual side in the range of 4.0 mm to a length shorter than the length of its buccal side by at least 2.5 mm. A basal surface is of a concave shape in engagement with a more convex shape than the shape in cross-section of the alveolar ridge. One or two proximal surfaces of the basal surface is or are provided at the substantial center with an occlusally inclined smooth groove having a width of 1.5 to 5.0 mm, a maximum depth of 0.5 to 3.0 mm, and an proximal upper end located away from the highest position. The occlusal surface has a mesiodistal length substantially equal to that of a natural tooth and a W.sub.2 /W.sub.1 ratio falling in the range of 55 to 95% of that of a natural tooth, wherein W.sub.1 is the mesiodistal length and W.sub.2 is the buccolingual length.
