  • Patent number: 7314419
Abstract: An archery arrowhead including having a nose and at least one projection having a forward facing leading edge. In one embodiment, the arrowhead includes at least three projections, and the nose is blunt. The projections can be fixed and immovable relative to the arrowhead and the leading edges can be sharpened. The nose and the projections can form a unitary, monolithic body. Optionally, the leading edge can be curvilinear, linear or a combination curvilinear/linear. The edge can be sharpened to provide a cutting surface on the projection. The arrowhead can be manufactured using a variety of techniques including Powder Injection Molding (PIM), casting, molding, machining, and the like.

  • Publication number: 20070243959
Abstract: An archery broadhead including a ferrule and at least one replaceable blade, each including interlocking features that securely lock at least the forward portion of the blade to the ferrule. The ferrule defines a blade slot bounded by a land and an inclined surface overhanging a portion of the land. The land and inclined surface form a locking pocket. The blade includes a cutting edge and a locking member. When the broadhead is secured to an arrow, the locking member wedges within the locking pocket to secure the forward portion of the blade to the ferrule. A method is provided including: metal injection molding a ferrule to define a locking pocket, sintering the ferrule, and joining a blade including an locking member with the ferrule so that the locking member wedges within the ferrule locking pocket.

  • Publication number: 20070221186
Abstract: A drop-away arrow rest including an arrow support that rotates in a vertical plane about a horizontal axis parallel to of a supported arrow. The rest can include a bias member and a connector joined with an upward moving bowstring portion and/or a downward moving bowstring portion. The bias member urges the support to a support position and/or a rest position. Movement of a bowstring portion correspondingly moves the connector so that the connector moves the support about an axis that is substantially parallel to a supported arrow, thereby moving the support to at least one of a support position and a rest position. Optionally, an indicator indicates when the support is in the support position. Further optionally, the connector can be secured to a connector device defining an aperture and joined with a bowstring portion.

  • Publication number: 20070119060
Abstract: A peep sight for an archery bow. The peep sight can define a peep aperture bounded by a curvilinear bulge optionally constructed from magnesium or a magnesium alloy. The peep sight bulge can circumferentiate the peep aperture, and can form an apex about midway between a forward surface and a rearward surface of the peep sight. The peep sight can define a serving slot and two or more angled bowstring strand slots for receiving portions of the bowstring strands to mount the peep sight to a bowstring. The peep sight can be blue in color. A method is provided including: machining a magnesium, magnesium alloy and/or other material blank into a peep body; and removing a portion of a peep body to define a peep aperture bound by a curvilinear bulge. Optionally, a strand slot and/or a serving slot can be machined into a surface of the body.

  • Patent number: 6997827
Abstract: The present is directed to a specific broadhead configuration for reducing the turbulence generated by a broadhead in flight, thereby reducing the resulting wind noise and aerodynamic drag generated in flight. The aerodynamic improvements to the archery broadhead are accomplished by providing edge treatments on at least one of the leading edges, trailing edges oblique edges or longitudinal edges of the broadhead blades. Specific edge treatments may include a linear tapered profile, a non-linear tapered profile or a radiused or rounded profile. Furthermore, certain edge treatments may be asymmetric so as to impart a rotational moment or spin to the arrow during flight. Such edge treatments are suitable for use on vented and non-vented blades.

  • Patent number: 6935976
Abstract: The present invention provides a mechanical broadhead in which the blades slide within longitudinal channels formed in the ferrule. The blade includes a transverse boss extending from the flanks which are received in a channel formed in the ferrule. A camming surface formed on the inward edge of the blades cooperate with a collar to provide controlled radial movement of the blades as they slide rearwardly within the channel on the ferrule.

  • Patent number: 6817269
Abstract: An edge sharpener for various implements is provided. The edge sharpener includes a sharpener body having a pair of sharpening elements secured to a sharpener body in a fixed angular relationship. The sharpening elements are moveable along this fixed angular relationship to provide a fresh sharpening edge without removal of the elements from the body. The edge sharpener may be provided with precision adjusters for indexing the sharpening element. Further, a removable handle may be provided. By use of sharpening elements of a shape other than rectangular, more than one fixed angular relationship can be provided. Durability of the sharpening edges is enhanced by the form of the edge relief.
