Patents Assigned to Gardner Bender, Inc.
  • Patent number: 4622837
Abstract: The conduit bending tool of this invention has on its body a pair of pads which are spaced apart in the direction lengthwise of the arcuate bending shoe and which define recesses that open to one side of the body wherein end portions of a straight cylindrical spirit level vial are closely receivable. Cement on a surface of each recess that embraces the vial partway around it secures the vial in place. The pads and recesses are defined by one of the two main mold elements that form the body, which have their parting place on a plane of symmetry in the body, and the vial is installed by simply inserting it into the recesses.

  • Patent number: 4452064
Abstract: A tube bender comprising a body having an upwardly opening hook at a front end thereof and having a bottom surface defined by a convexly arcuate bending shoe extending rearwardly from the hook has movable indicators, one for each of a plurality of bend angles, each of which rises to a signalling position when a tube being bent attains its bend angle. Each indicator has a pin-like shank slidable in a bore in the body that opens to the bottom surface near the vertical plane of symmetry of the shoe and at a location where a tube being bent contacts that surface upon attaining the bend angle for the indicator. A head on the indicator normally rests on an upwardly facing surface on the body to which the bore opens upwardly, with the shank projecting below said bottom surface. The head comes flush with an upwardly facing signalling surface on the body when the bend angle is attained.

  • Patent number: 4365527
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically rotating screw-on connectors onto the stripped ends of electric wires, including an elongated housing having an inlet opening at one end for the reception of the connectors and an outlet opening at the other end for their discharge. The connectors are received in a rotatable and hollow drive shaft in the housing, and a sleeve is concentric with, around, and rotatable with the drive shaft. A plurality of fingers with a free end are secured to one end of the sleeve, which is axially movable towards the outlet opening by manually operated cam means acting between the housing and sleeve. Upon this axial movement, the fingers engage cam surfaces in the drive shaft and adjacent the outlet opening to cause gripping engagement of those fingers with a connector located adjacent the outlet opening.
