Patents Assigned to Gea Luftkuehlergesellschaft Happel GmbH & Co.
  • Patent number: 4715432
Abstract: In an air-cooled surface condensor including a plurality of elongated finned heat exchanger tubes arranged in a single row, each tube has a continually increasing cross-sectional area from a front end to a rear end of the tube in the direction of flowing of cooling air. A separating wall provided with perforations is mounted within each tube.

  • Patent number: 4685204
Abstract: An arrangement for drawing transverse ribs onto smooth pipes, comprises a punch arranged to produce transverse ribs; a drive provided for driving the punch; a drawing bank carrying smooth pipes to be provided with ribs; driving chain means movable from the punch drive and including at least two continuously rotatable endless driver chains extending at a distance from one another and driving the transverse ribs; driving chain wheels arranged for driving the driver chains at their one end, the driving chain wheels having a driving shaft; and a coupling provided between the punch drive and the driving chain wheels at a drawing bank end which is opposite to the punch, the coupling including two claw discs which are bringable in form-locking and force-transmitting engagement with one another, one of the claw discs being freely rotatably arranged on the driving shaft on the driving chain wheel and at least indirectly actuatable from the punch drive, the other of the claw discs being connected with the driving shaft

  • Patent number: 4619671
Abstract: In order to obtain the requisite chimney temperature of cleaned gas discharged from a desulfurizing installation, and in order to avoid problems resulting at temperatures below the dew point of sulfuric acid in heat exchangers made of steel, the invention provides the following measures: the heat exchange between the crude gas stream and the cleaned gas stream is made in a first stage including conventional heat exchangers made of steel. An additional stage of heat exchangers between the crude and cleaned gas streams is constructed of corrosion-resistant and adhesion inhibiting plastic material and operating in a lower temperature range. Transfer conduits of corrosion-resistant material connect the lower temperature heat exchangers to forcibly transfer a heat carrying fluid.

  • Patent number: 4232729
Abstract: An air-cooled heat exchanger for cooling industrial liquids, particularly such which have a tendency to form deposits at least when the temperature thereof drops below a given level, includes a plurality of externally ribbed hollow cooling sections which are arranged in a plurality of parallel rows each including a multitude of the cooling sections, and a plurality of connecting sections which so communicate the cooling sections with one another as to form at least two separate sets of interconnected sections the cooling sections of which alternate with one another in each of the rows. The sections are so interconnected that the liquid to be cooled will flow through each of the sets in each of the rows and between the rows in a meandering path and in a mutual cross-countercurrent with respect to the flow of cooling air which is advanced by a blower transversely of and past the cooling sections. The throughput rate of the blower may be controlled in dependence on the exit temperature of the cooled liquid.

  • Patent number: 3944636
Abstract: A cooling tower has circumferentially distributed inlet openings at the lower end for the entrance of cooling air and a central upper outlet opening. Cooling air flows through the tower, on the one hand, counter-currently to a medium to be cooled which flows in downward direction over a trickling unit (wet cooling section), and on the other hand, parallel thereto about heat-exchanger elements, flown through by a medium to be cooled (dry cooling section). The trickling unit and the heat-exchanger elements are separated from each other.
