  • Patent number: 10974162
Abstract: A plant for dealcoholising alcoholic beverages includes a rectification column having at least one inlet for the alcoholic beverage, a sump and a top. The rectification column is operable such that dealcoholised beverage can be removed from the sump and exhaust vapour can be removed from the top. At least one evaporator is configured to supply the rectification column with vapour. A condenser arrangement condenses the exhaust vapour removed from the top of the rectification column, at least in part. The plant further includes a heat pump which can operate the evaporator as well as the condenser arrangement. A method for dealcoholising alcoholic beverages in a rectification column is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10315127
Abstract: A pot distillation system, in particular for whiskey, includes a distillation bubble with a base equipped to heat an alcoholic liquid, and a top removing alcohol vapors. The alcoholic liquid in the base is heated by a heating unit having a heat exchanger which is in thermal contact with the alcoholic liquid and heated by water vapor. A condenser having a cooling water circuit recirculating cooling water across the condenser condenses the alcohol vapor supplied from the top. The cooling water circuit includes a separator which removes water vapor from the cooling water circuit. The water vapor removed by the separator is pre-compressed in a mechanical compressor and supplied to an intake port of a steam jet pump which is driven by water vapor from a water vapor source and which further compresses the pre-compressed water vapor, and the steam jet pump supplying the further compressed water vapor to the heat exchanger for heating same.

  • Patent number: 10022648
Abstract: In order to separate and concentrate a liquid component from a liquid multi-component mixture formed of several liquid components with different boiling temperatures, e.g. an ethanol-water mixture, a concentration apparatus (3) is proposed, with its separation section and concentration section designed as separate columns (5, 7) with different operating energy requirements. The column (7) with the higher operating energy requirements is designed for a lower temperature difference between the boiling temperature of the top of the column (29) and the boiling temperature of the bottom of the column (21) than the column (5) with lower operating energy requirements. Separate mechanical vapour compressors (15, 27) are assigned to the two columns (5, 7), said vapour compressors compressing the vapours from the top of the associated column (5, 7) and supplying the operating energy to the bottom region (11, 21) of the respective column (5, 7) by means of separate sump evaporators (9, 23) which act as, reboilers.

  • Patent number: 7985580
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to produce alcohol from plant-based raw materials while reducing energy consumption. Said aim is achieved by separating the husk portion of cereals during grinding and feed said husk portion to a dryer (21) which dries distiller's wash as a carrier medium for distiller's wash. The lost heat of said dryer (21) is supplied to the distillation station (15) as process heat. The lost heat of a molecular sieve (45) that drains the raw alcohol is also redirected to the distillation station (15) as process heat.

  • Patent number: 7794564
Abstract: A multistage evaporation system is proposed in which the first evaporator is heated via a jet wet washer with superheated, air-containing waste steam, for example of a drier. The product vapor of the first evaporator stage is fed via a mechanical compressor to a second evaporator stage for heating. The compressor ensures firstly a lowering of the dew point in the evaporator space of the first evaporator stage and secondly a temperature increase of the product vapor fed to the second evaporator stage for heating.

  • Patent number: 7112262
Abstract: A device is disclosed for downward flow evaporation of a liquid substance and subsequent condensation of the vapor formed, which includes a plurality of vertical evaporator tubes housed in a common casing in side-by-side relationship, a distributor tank which is arranged above the evaporator tubes and from which the substance contained therein can be fed to the evaporator tubes with production of a film of the substance running down the tube surface of the evaporator tubes, a heat exchanger arrangement arranged in the casing and having a plurality of vertical condensation tubes having a surface upon which the vapor can be condensed, receiving trays housed below the evaporator tubes and below the condensation tubes in the casing to separately receive unevaporated concentrate of the substance which runs down the tube surface of the evaporator tubes or condensed distillate of the substance which runs down the tube surface of the condensation tubes.

  • Patent number: 4630776
Abstract: A manifold device for the dispersal of a liquid from one end of a supply line. The device includes a series of deflector walls spaced progressively from the end of the supply line. Each deflector wall has a hole in line with the end of the supply line. The holes of the respective deflector walls are of decreasing cross-sections in a direction away from the supply line for passing progressively decreasing portions of the liquid therethrough. The remainder of the liquid is deflected by the deflector walls seriatum radially outwardly of the axis of the supply line. At least one of the deflector walls includes a collar thereabout and spaced radially outwardly from the axis of the supply line for diverting the liquid from the respective deflector wall. Teeth are formed integrally with and alternately bent radially inwardly and outwardly from the lower edge of the collar to disperse the liquid over the bottom of the manifold device.
