Patent number: 5421395Abstract: A swinging-and-sliding door for vehicles which opens in two mutually perpendicular steps, a first step wherein it bends out of a doorway-closed position and into a ready-to-slide position and a second step wherein it slides aside horizontally into a doorway-open position. The door is mounted with a roller carriage and a horizontal track fastened to the inside of the door essentially halfway up. The roller carriage is mounted in a doorway immediately adjacent to a vertical edge of a doorframe opposite to the leading edge of the door in the closed position and on the same level as the track. The roller carriage travels back and forth in the track and in and out in the same direction as the first door-opening step on a carriage holder. The door is at least to some extent flexible in the direction it moves in during the first door-opening step and is subjected to tension such that the middle of the door will resiliently bend to a prescribed extent in a direction opposite that of the first door-opening step.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1993Date of Patent: June 6, 1995Assignee: Firma Gebr. Patent number: 5263280Abstract: A device for moving a swinging and sliding door in a mass-transit car, especially a car that travels along a track. Each panel of the door slides lengthwise along a guide element. The guide element moves as part of a four-point articulation across the plane of the panel. The lengthwise motion of the leaf is coordinated with its transverse motion by a rail. The rail is fastened to the doorframe. Guide means are fastened to the panel and engage the rail. A drive mechanism on the panel directs force toward the guide element. As the drive mechanism (20-22, 30 & 31, or 40 & 4n1) reacts it exerts torque on an expansion element (25, 35, or 45) between the guide element (3) and a supporting component (25.2, 35.2, or 45.2) attached to the doorframe (16). The torque produces a force substantially normal to the guide element. The force generates the transverse motion.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1992Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignee: Firma Gebr. Bode & Co. GmbHInventor: Dietmar Dilcher

Patent number: 4924625Abstract: A swinging and sliding door for rolling stock, especially a car that rides on a track, in mass transit. The panel of the door slides along a guide that pivots across the plane of the door on two cranks with vertical axes. The door has a system of articulations that will ensure a sufficient angle on the part of the door panel as the door begins to open even when the cranks are relatively short. The cranks, a rigid coupling that has the guide mounted on it and connects the cranks, and crank journals that are rigidly secured to the door frame form a four-member articulation, with the cranks rotating in opposite directions.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1988Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Gebr. Patent number: 4833827Abstract: A rotating drive mechanism for operating the wing of a swinging door, especially of a vehicle. The wing is articulated by pivoting arms to a rotating post, which it rotates along with. When the door is closed, the wing can be raised by axial displacement of the post into a locked position, where locking components on the stationary door frame and on the wing of the door engage each other. The post is driven by a strictly linear mechanism that is controlled by pressure medium and its linear motion is converted into a rotation by a helical transmission.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1988Date of Patent: May 30, 1989Assignee: Gebr. Patent number: 4731886Abstract: A device for activating a rotating post, especially one that moves a swinging-door panel in a motor vehicle and which need no additional space at each end of the rotating post. The post is rotatably mounted in a mount at each end. The post is a hollow cylinder that accommodates a worm gear driven by a bi-directional pneumatic piston-and-cylinder drive. The piston-and-cylinder drive is completely accommodated inside the post and consists of at least two piston-and-cylinder units pneumatically connected in parallel with a common piston rod. Each unit incorporates a piston and cylinder aligned within a sleeve that is rigidly fastened to and coaxial with one of the mounts. The pressure medium that drives the panel in one direction is supplied to each cylinder through a coaxial bore in the piston rod. The bore extends axially and connects all the pistons. The bore communicates with the insides of the cylinders in the vicinity of each piston face that faces the same direction.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1986Date of Patent: March 22, 1988Assignee: Gebr. Patent number: 4730513Abstract: An electromechanical device for activating a rotating post that moves the leaf of a swinging door on a vehicle, especially a mass-transit vehicle. An electric motor activates the column by means of an intermediate worm gear. The motor outtake shaft is coupled to the worm-gear intake shaft. A worm wheel is coupled to the worm-gear outtake shaft, which activates the rotating post. The electromechanical activating device contains an emergency mechanism for uncoupling the worm-gear outtake shaft from the worm wheel in relation to their rotation. Patent number: 4669220Abstract: A swing-and-slide door for vehicles, especially railroad passenger vehicles. The leaf is suspended at the top on a positioning bushing on a supporting rail that extends over the total width of the door. At the bottom of the door a horizontal positioning rail is secured to the leaf. A positioning section slides back and forth mechanically secured in the positioning rail. The securing rail and positioning section are secured to the studs of two cranks. The cranks are fastened vertically separated to the vehicle superstructure by means of horizontal shaft studs and cranks studs that extend parallel to the direction of displacement, are connected by a connecting section, and are driven by a pneumatic cylinder. The door is opened in a sequence of two stages. The leaf is first displaced out of the closed position into a ready-to-slide position and then slid horizontally to the side in that position. Patent number: 4378656Abstract: An anti-clamping device for a vehicle door driven in opening and closing movements by a turnable shaft in turn driven by a transmission rod. The anti-clamping device comprises a telescopic element interposed in the transmission rod and including first and second telescopically engaged parts having retracted and extended positions. A control member is mounted on one of the parts and can be in the form of a projecting pin while spaced switches are mounted on the other of the parts. The pin projects between the switches to operate a selected one thereof depending on whether the parts are telescopically retracted or extended to reverse the direction of door movement. Thereby when an obstacle is present in the path of travel of the door, stress in the transmission rod will be accompanied by telescopic retraction or extension of the parts depending upon whether the door is in its opening or closing movement which produces closure of one of the switches to reverse the direction of door movement.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1980Date of Patent: April 5, 1983Assignee: Firma Gebr.
