Abstract: In a mascara brush comprising a plurality of bristles which project radially outwards from an oblong core, with the bristles having varying lengths such that a first number of longer bristles, by their tips, form an outer envelope and a second number of shorter bristles, by their tips, form an inner envelope, it is provided, according to the invention with a view to varying application properties being obtained along the bristle trimming, that the envelope of the shorter bristles is conical, double-conical, convex or concave or a combination thereof.

Abstract: A cosmetic unit, especially a mascara unit, comprises a storage container for a mascara liquid, a closing cap for placing onto the storage container, an applicator rod incorporating an applicator and extending away from the inside of the closing cap through an orifice, and a wiper means placed in the orifice of the container, wherein the wiper means extends sufficiently far from the edge of the orifice into the interior of the container so that the wiper orifice or the wiper lips of the wiper means, when the applicator is in the inserted condition, extend to the region of the proximal edge of the applicator.

Abstract: In a method for producing a bristle from thermoplastic polymers through injection molding, the molten polymer mass is injected under pressure into a bristle-molding channel of predetermined length having a predetermined cross-section along this length and the channel is vented during injection molding. To produce injection-molded bristles with excellent bending behavior, the magnitude of the injection pressure is adjusted in dependence on the cross-sectional extension of the bristle-molding channel such that a shear flow is generated with high core speed in the center of the molten polymer mass flow and large shearing effect due to wall friction of the molten polymer mass under distinct longitudinal orientation of the polymer molecules at least in the region of the molten polymer mass close to the wall, which is maintained along the channel wherein the channel is simultaneously vented along its length to support maintenance of the shear flow. A device for carrying out the method is also described.

Abstract: In a mascara brush comprising a plurality of bristles held between two twisted wire segments, wherein the bristles have varying lengths created by trimming, provision is made for the brush to incorporate a first outer face of a predefined geometry created in a first trimming process after twisting, wherein this outer face is formed by the tips of a first number of longer bristles, wherein a portion of the bristles is trimmed by a second trimming process, so that a plurality of bristles of a shorter length is created, the tips of which form a second envelope of a predefined geometry, wherein the tips of the shorter bristles each lie on an orthogonal line relative to these twisted wire segments extending at a distance to the same.

Abstract: In a cosmetic unit comprising two applicators, each having a stem, each of the applicators dipping into a respective reservoir, each reservoir having a reservoir neck provided with an external thread on which to screw a respective coupling part, and the two reservoirs being releasably attachable to each other by means of the screwed-on coupling parts, which at the same time serve as a closing cap, via a coupling sleeve by means of a snap-type connection, provision is made for the snap-type connection to comprise a locking bead disposed on the inside of the coupling sleeve in the outer end region of the coupling sleeve.

Abstract: In a compact comprising a housing, an applicator and a plurality of recesses in the housing for receiving a cosmetic, it is provided, with a view to obtaining an improved compact, that the length of the applicator and the width of the recesses are coordinated for the sum of the widths of the recesses approximately to correspond to the length of the applicator so that the applicator, when stroking across the recesses, is simultaneously loaded with each of the cosmetics contained therein.

Abstract: A method for the production of bristles structures on an arbitrary kind of carrier using a mold tool is described having channels extending from channel walls for shaping bristles, wherein a mold mass for forming the bristles is introduced under pressure into the channels, preferentially using the injection molding technique. Towards this end, the carrier is disposed directly or indirectly onto the mold walls of the channels in such a fashion that the free cross-section of the channels is completely covered and the mold mass is subsequently introduced onto the carrier with a sufficient mold pressure (injection pressure) that the carrier is broken-through in the vicinity of the free cross-section of the channels thereby displacing the carrier material, with the carrier mass subsequently filling the channels.

At least one passage, which, at least by sections, is decentralized from the axis of symmetry of the applicator, leads from the container to the applicator. The result is a container and applicator unit by which to enable a cosmetic to be spread uniformly on the surface of application.

Abstract: In an applicator for a cosmetic product comprising a rod and an application surface made of a relatively soft material and extending obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the rod, provision is made for said application surface to be formed by a plurality of cones arranged parallel to each other, wherein a fictitious outer envelope and the height of the cone define an application volume for a relatively highly viscous cosmetic product from 10 to 60 mm3.
