  • Patent number: 9639403
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for receiving an incoming data stream. The system comprises a multi-core processor with a memory unit that is configured to include a circular queue that receives a data stream. The circular queue is divided into a plurality of sub-queues determined as a multiple of the number of processing cores, and each sub-queue is assigned to one processing core such that as data is received into a region covered by a particular sub-queue, the processing core assigned to the particular sub-queue processes the data. The system is also configured to update a head pointer and a tail pointer of the circular queue. The head pointer is updated as data is received into the circular queue and the tail pointer is updated by a particular processing core as it processes data in its assigned sub-queue.

  • Publication number: 20170085596
Abstract: System and methods are disclosed for configuring the sharing of resource pools and individual resources in the resource groups among enterprise communication systems. In certain embodiments, the resource pools are trunk groups and the individual resources that comprise the trunk groups are communication resources. Digital PBXs components associated with different enterprise communication systems are registered and assigned shared use of a trunk group. Communication services are provided to the digital PBXs using the channels of the shared trunk group. Each enterprise may reserve channels within the trunk group for exclusive use by the enterprise, while sharing use of other channels in the trunk group. Each enterprise can be guaranteed a minimum calling capacity while providing improved resource utilization due to fewer idle communication channels.

  • Patent number: 9571552
Abstract: Embodiments provide systems, methods, apparatus, and computer program products for selecting the codecs that each endpoint will use in a call in order to optimize the utilization of at least one internal resource of a network component. The network component receives a call invite from a first endpoint that identifies available codecs. The network component determines what codecs are available to the second endpoint and determines what codec pairing will have the least impact on at least one identified internal resource of the network component. The network component sends call set-up information to the first endpoint that identifies the selected codec or list of codecs for the first endpoint, and call set-up information to the second endpoint that identifies the selected codec or list of codecs for the second endpoint.

  • Patent number: 9559978
Abstract: The subject matter described herein includes methods, systems, and computer readable media for intelligent optimization of digital signal processor (DSP) resource utilization in a media gateway. In one method, it is determined in a media gateway whether predetermined conditions exist for DSP-less IP-IP switching for a call. In response to determining that the predetermined conditions exist, DSP-less IP-IP switching is implemented for the call in the media gateway. After implementing the DSP-less IP-IP switching for the call, it is determined whether a predetermined event occurs that requires insertion of DSP resources during the call. In response to determining that the predetermined event occurs, the DSP resources are inserted into the call during the call.

  • Publication number: 20170026404
Abstract: A system and method for protecting components of an IP telephony network whereby a protection scheme is enabled upon detection of resource exhaustion within the network that prevents delivery of incoming messages. Resource exhaustion may result from denial of service attacks and/or malfunctions in automated dialing systems. Once a protection scheme is enabled, the system activates mechanisms for identifying calling parties that are suspected of contributing to the resource exhaustion condition. These suspected calling parties may be placed in a blocked sender list, either manually or automatically. Calling parties may be presented with a challenge function in order to determine whether the call is being made by an automated dialing system. The system blocks incoming calls from calling parties identified in the blocked sender list either permanently or for a specified time duration. The protection scheme remains enabled for a specified duration or until the resource exhaustion condition has subsided.

  • Patent number: 9544080
Abstract: The invention includes, among other things, a system for passing TDM traffic through a packet switch. In one embodiment, the system includes a packet switch that has a plurality of data ports and is capable of routing FSDU packets between the plurality of data ports. A TDM encapsulation circuit process a TDM data flow that is incoming to the switch. A circuit demultiplexer processes the incoming data flow to buffer data associated with different TDM circuits into different buffer locations. A timer monitors the amount of time available to fill the FSDU, and when the time period reaches the frame boundary, an FSDU generator generates an FSDU that is filled with data associated with the TDM circuits. Header information is added for allowing the packet switch to route the generated FSDU to a port associated with the respective TDM circuit.

  • Patent number: 9544166
Abstract: An Access Gateway Management System (AGMS) allows telephone operating companies to transition their existing wireline customers over to Voice over the Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology without having to invest in new workflow processes, systems, or maintenance facilities by adapting the Operational Support Systems interfaces currently employed for managing legacy circuit-switched switching systems to manage Line Access Gateways (LAGs), which are the generic line termination systems employed in VoIP infrastructure. The AGMS also configures and adapts metallic loop test systems currently deployed for the purpose of routine maintenance and troubleshooting of subscriber lines terminating directly or indirectly (through access systems) on existing switching systems to continue to provide this functionality when the lines terminate on LAGs. Synchronization of the subtended LAGs is coordinated with the legacy network by the AGMS.

  • Patent number: 9479967
Abstract: An enhanced media gateway allows the signaling and media paths of a multimedia call to be merged so that signaling of a session and establishment of the media path may be coordinated. The enhanced media gateway may include a session border controller, gateway, router, and digital signal processors that operate in a coordinated fashion, so that information about the media path may be included in the signaling of the session, so that the media path may be directly established in connection with the session signaling, and so that bandwidth may be reserved in the router when the media path is established. This allows routing to be set up using media path signaling to obviate the use of a reservation protocol.
