Patent number: 4224020Abstract: A pressure regulator for a gas lighter which comprises, in a well of the lighter body, a porous membrane of constant natural porosity separating two chambers from one another to set the maximum flame height. A downstream chamber is connected to the burner outlet and serves for evaporation while upstream of the filter, the wetting chamber communicates with the reservoir containing the fuel, e.g. via a wick.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1977Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: Etablissements Genoud & Cie Societe Anonyme DiteInventor: Guy Neyret

Patent number: 4153233Abstract: A gas lighter has a hollow cylindrical reservoir formed at one end with a smooth cylindrical well at the bottom of which is formed a hole opening into the interior of the reservoir. A rigid plug is force-fitted into the well and has a pair of sides and a passage extending between the sides. One side compresses a block of porous and compressible material which serves to control the flow of gas out of the hole, and the other side of the plug serves as the seat for a valve body reciprocal in the well. The floor of the well and/or the one side of the plug may be formed with a recess so that the plug may bottom in the well with the block in the recess, thereby compressing this block to an exactly predetermined extent so that gas flow and, hence, flame height is determined exactly.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1977Date of Patent: May 8, 1979Assignee: Etablissements Genoud & CieInventor: Guy Neyret

Patent number: 4060202Abstract: A valve for a gas lighter wherein an elongated support body of low thermal conductivity is clamped in a tubular member forming a valve seat at its upper end to lock a flame-height-controlling filter in place below this valve seat. The improvement resides in the formation of the thermally conductive burner-carrying member with a tubular apron, skirt or sleeve which is fitted over the thermally conductive valve member and slidingly guided therein to press a valve body (rubber gasket or flap valve) against the valve seat. The gas passage in the burner member is formed only in the upper end thereof, while the apron extends into the well beyond the filter.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1976Date of Patent: November 29, 1977Assignee: Societe Anonyme dite: Etablissement Genoud & CieInventor: Guy Neyret

Patent number: 4049370Abstract: A cigarette lighter has a cylindrical fuel-containing housing provided at its head with a burner, a valve having a lever operable to feed fuel from the housing interior to the burner, and a striker wheel for sparking across the burner and igniting fuel issuing therefrom. A shield surrounds the projecting end of the valve lever and prevents its actuation. This shield is releasably connected to the housing by a plurality of frangible webs to allow its removal after purchase of the lighter. These webs are integrally formed with the shield and with the synthetic-resin reservoir body of the housing or with the metallic head cap thereof.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1975Date of Patent: September 20, 1977Assignee: Societe Anonyme dite: Etablissements Genoud & CieInventor: Guy Neyret

Patent number: 4028043Abstract: A cigarette lighter has a cylindrical fuel-containing reservoir provided on one end with a burner, a valve having a lever operable to feed fuel from the reservoir to the burner, and a striker wheel for sparking across the burner and igniting the fuel. A metal cap covers this end and has a cutout receiving the wheel and in the line with the burner. A metal tab blocks that portion of the cutout aligned with the burner and is connected to the rest of the cap by a plurality of destructible webs. This tab has a tongue extending up over the striker wheel and out above the lever so that the striker wheel cannot be actuated, nor can the lever, and the burner is covered. This protective arrangement is removable after sale to expose the lever, striker wheel, and burner and allow use of the lighter.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1975Date of Patent: June 7, 1977Assignee: Genoud & Cie.Inventor: Guy Neyret

Patent number: 4008992Abstract: A valve system particularly for cigarette lighters comprises a pressure control, escape or relief valve in association with a closure or blocking valve with a common fluid-flow obstructing means for the two valves.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1974Date of Patent: February 22, 1977Assignee: Societe anonyme dite Etablissement GENOUD & Cie.Inventor: Lars Bertil Johnsson

Patent number: 3985493Abstract: A lever formed at least partially as a bimetallic strip engages between the cover and the burner-valve of a gas-type cigarette lighter. When the cover is lifted this lever automatically opens the valve and forms a gas jet that may be ignited with the striker. A cup-shaped extension on the lever at the jet is heated by the flame on the lighter and conducts this heat to a thermodeformable tab on the lever so that after a predetermined amount of heating the tab deforms and disconnects the lever from the burner-valve, allowing this valve to close and shut off the gas flow.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1975Date of Patent: October 12, 1976Assignee: Societe Anonyme dite: Etablissements Genoud & Cie.Inventor: Guy Neyret
