  • Patent number: 11915165
Abstract: The present systems, devices, and methods relate to managing shared vehicle access. Vehicle access can be provided to a candidate user based on whether the user is included in a list of at least one user associated with a respective virtual key. Virtual keys can be created, or lists of at least one user can be updated to include the candidate user, to in turn provide vehicle access. Virtual keys can be stored in a plurality of virtual key slots, with vehicle access being provided based on a virtual key stored in an active key slot. Status reports can be sent to a reservation management device, for updating virtual keys or lists of at least one user.

  • Patent number: 11884285
Abstract: Described herein are various techniques, including systems and non-transitory instructions, that, in response to obtaining information regarding a potential collision between a vehicle and an object, obtain data describing the vehicle for a time period extending before and after a time of the potential collision. The system may determine a likelihood that the potential collision is a non-collision event based on the data describing the vehicle by performing one or more assessments. The assessments may include telematics monitor assessment, driver behavior assessment, road surface feature assessment, trip correlation assessment, and/or context assessment. In response to determining that the likelihood indicates that the potential collision is not a non-collision event, the system may trigger one or more actions responding to the potential collision.

  • Patent number: 11867512
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for dataset simplification of N-dimensional signals captured for asset tracking are provided. An example method involves obtaining raw data from a data source onboard an asset and determining whether obtainment of the raw data results in satisfaction of a data logging trigger. The method further involves, when the data logging trigger is satisfied, performing a dataset simplification algorithm on a target set of data within the raw data to generate a simplified set of data, wherein the target set of data contains a time-variant N-dimensional signal, N>=1, and the dataset simplification algorithm is generalized for all N>=1. The method further involves transmitting the simplified set of data to a server.

  • Patent number: 11864084
Abstract: Vehicles can employ onboard telematic monitoring devices to collect vehicle and operation data, such as for improved vehicle fleet management. Such telematic monitoring devices are dependent on power from a vehicle, such that data collection and communication can be interrupted if a telematic monitoring device is disconnected or has a poor connection. The present disclosure relates to battery devices, which provide power to telematic monitoring devices as needed in order to maintain data collection and communication, or other more limited functionality. The present disclosure also relates to systems including battery devices, and methods for operating battery devices. The present disclosure also relates to detecting temperature of batteries, as well as emergency input and messages for telematic monitoring systems.

  • Patent number: 11862011
Abstract: A traffic analysis system analyzes location data from a plurality of vehicles to determine journeys made by the vehicles. Vehicles may make one or more rest stops during a journey. The traffic analysis system compares rest periods to journey criteria to determine whether a rest period delineates the end of a journey, or whether a rest period is still within the journey. In this way, a plurality of trips can be chained together into a journey to provide more accurate analysis of traffic patterns.

  • Patent number: 11829748
Abstract: Systems and method for safe over-the-air (OTA) update of electronic control units in vehicles are provided. The OTA server determines whether an operator terminal is close to a vehicle and if so, sends a request to the operator terminal requesting confirmation for proceeding with completing a firmware update for an electronic control unit in the vehicle. In response to receiving the confirmation, the OTA server sends a request to a telematics device coupled to the vehicle to complete the firmware update.

  • Patent number: 11827118
Abstract: The present systems, devices, and methods relate to managing vehicle battery charging. Payment for charging is preauthorized, and a receipt for preauthorization is sent from a payment management device to a user device when the user device has access to internet or cellular communications. This preauthorization receipt is later sent from the user device to a charge station where internet or cellular communication is not available, to enable charging of the vehicle battery at the charge station. Another receipt is sent from the charge station to the user device after charging of the vehicle, indicating a payment amount for actual energy used to charge the battery. Later, when the user device has access to cellular or internet communications, the user device sends the receipt indicating payment amount for actual energy used to the payment management device, for final payment balancing.

  • Publication number: 20230377462
Abstract: Described herein are various techniques, including a method that uses high-rate acceleration data for computing an accident score indicative of a potential collision and triggering an action in response to determining that the accident score indicates a potential collision. The method includes filtering out undesired high-rate acceleration trigger events such as noise and harsh braking events prior to determining the accident score. The accident score is based on contexts or scores computed from high-rate acceleration data, speed, and GPS data captured by a telematics monitor deployed in a vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20230368671
Abstract: An asset tracker deployed in an engineless vehicle and a telematics device coupled to a vehicle both send location updates to a telematics server. The asset tracker sends location updates at a faster rate upon leaving a shipping yard, for example. The telematics server associates the vehicle and engineless vehicles, determines whether they are travelling together, and sends a notification when they are not supposed to be travelling together.

  • Patent number: 11814010
Abstract: The present systems, devices, and methods relate to managing shared vehicle access. Authorization policies are stored at a network device, and are provided to vehicle devices. Authorization policies each include an authentication scheme, a list of permitted vehicle operations, and a list of requirements to perform vehicle operations. In this way, whether even if a user is authenticated to access a vehicle, vehicle access is controlled based one whether the user is permitted to perform vehicle operations, and whether requirements are met to perform vehicle operations. This provides a flexible and roust vehicle access system. Authorization Policies are distributed to vehicle device in an Access Configuration, which can be updated.

  • Patent number: 11811417
Abstract: A coupling harness, including a coupling clamp, for capturing a coupled signal from signal lines is provided. The coupling harness has an orientation detector that determines whether the coupled signal needs to be complemented based on an orientation of the coupling clamp relative to the signal lines. A logic corrector complements the coupled signal based on an output of the orientation detector. Advantageously, signals may be coupled correctly from signal lines regardless of the orientation of the coupling clamp.
