  • Patent number: 9853381
Abstract: A fixture for helping to secure a circuit board to a receiving connector socket is attached to the connector socket. The fixture is then attached to the circuit board with a flowable adhesive. The flowable adhesive could be a hot-melt adhesive. Adhesive layers on the fixture can be used to attach the fixture to side and top surfaces of the connector socket.

  • Patent number: 9608364
Abstract: A circuit board that is to be mounted in a connector socket includes a plurality of electrical connectors located along a side edge of the circuit board. Retention bosses are formed on first and second opposite sides of the circuit board, each of the retention bosses protruding from a surface of the circuit board and extending parallel to and adjacent to the first edge of the circuit board. When the first edge of the circuit board is inserted into a slot of a connector socket, contact surfaces of the first and second retention bosses contact top surfaces of the connector socket to help immobilize the circuit board with respect to the connector socket. Adhesive layers on the contact surfaces of the first and second retention bosses may adhere to the top surfaces of the connector socket to help hold the circuit board immobile with respect to the connector socket.

  • Patent number: 9075581
Abstract: A plenum for guiding a flow of cooling air through the interior of a computer is designed to maximize the airflow over those electrical components within the computer which are most sensitive to temperature, and/or which require the greatest amount of cooling. The plenum is designed to be mounted over top of a computer motherboard which includes a plurality of electrical components mounted thereon. One or more apertures are formed in the lower wall of the plenum so that electrical components mounted on the computer motherboard can protrude through the apertures and into the interior of the plenum. The lower surface of the plenum is designed to prevent the flow of cooling air passing through the plenum from escaping through the apertures on the lower wall. Also, upper and lower protrusions on the plenum can extend into the interior of the plenum to concentrate the flow of cooling air onto the electrical components which are protruding through the apertures and into plenum.

  • Patent number: 8824131
Abstract: A disk drive mount assembly for a removable disk drive includes a write protect switch located on a front of the disk drive mount assembly. The write protect switch is electrically coupled to the disk drive so that moving the switch between a write protect position and a write enable position allows one to change the write protect mode of the disk drive. A mechanism for holding the write protect switch in either the write protect position or the write enable position may also be provided on the disk drive mount assembly to prevent the switch from being accidentally moved between these two positions due to shock, vibration or accidental contact.

  • Patent number: 8564939
Abstract: A battery bypass assembly for a computer includes a battery housing which is configured to receive a battery in a battery receptacle. The assembly also includes a battery emulator which is designed to be installed in the battery receptacle of a computer motherboard. An electrical cable connects the electrical contacts of the battery receptacle in the battery housing to the corresponding terminals on the battery emulator. Once the battery emulator has been mounted in a battery receptacle of a computer motherboard, and a battery has been mounted in the battery receptacle of the battery housing, the battery will power circuits on the computer motherboard. The battery housing can be positioned in a location where it is easily accessible. As a result, the battery can be easily replaced without the need to open the housing of the computer.
