Abstract: A single, unitary, solid phase support apparatus having a planar surface divided into a plurality of separate zone functions to detect antibodies. Each zone has bonded to it, a different peptide through its C-terminal end. The zones are incubated with the analyte sample and observed for reaction, indicating the virus-specific or bacteria specific presence or absence.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of a primer for consecutive DNA sequencing, in which at least two shortmers are hybridised adjacent to one another using a template and are then ligated with one another to form the primer, the process being characterised in that(a) a template in the form of a single strand of nucleotides is used in which the number of nucleotides is at least 6 and is not greater than approximately twice the total number of nucleotides of all the shortmers used, and(b) the primer formed is then separated from the template and from unreacted shortmers and recovered. The invention relates also to banks (libraries) of templates for the mentioned process.

Abstract: pPTH, bPTH or hPTH is modified by deletions from the natural C- and/or N-terminus. The modified compounds are useful active ingredients in therapeutic compositions. The therapeutic compositions do not stimulate renal adenylate cyclase but, rather, effect chondrocyte proliferation, that is to say, they exhibit a mitogenic and bone-specific effect.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for isolating a polysaccharide extracellularly producing bacteria from a mixed culture of non-polysaccharide and polysaccharide producing bacteria, The method uses a streaking technique on a nutrient medium containing unsubstituted gellan as a gellant. The polysaccharide extracellularly producing bacteria are isolated by the act of non-polysaccharide extracellularly producing bacteria sinking into the nutrient medium. However, the polysaccharide extracellularly producing bacteria do not sink into the nutrient medium. The isolated cells are capable of producing an exopolysaccharide such as P4. Further the isolated cells are capable of producing gellan. The specific polysaccharide producing bacteria are of the genera Auromonas, Pseudomonas and Sphingomonas.

Abstract: A sensor arrangement for flow injection analysis, includes an enzyme reactor and a chemical/physical sensor. The sensor arrangement is designed as a sealed module and a flow channel of great length is accommodated in the module. By this sensor arrangement, gases generated or consumed in the enzyme reactor are detected without interfering gas exchange with the environment.

Abstract: A process for the purfication of synthetic oligonucleotides is described which drastically simplifies the hitherto very time consuming purification process. The deprotection solution is adsorbed without being concentrated on a carrier having reversed phase properties and optionally ion exchanger properties, the oligonuleotides without lipophilic protecting group are removed, their protecting group is cleaved off from the adsorbed oligonucleotides, the adsorbed oligonucleotides are washed and eluted from the carrier and then purified in a manner known per se.
