Patent number: 6490832Abstract: A sliding door system is provided which has a support frame including vertical posts and a horizontal transom. An assembly supporting a sliding door wing is supported at the support frame and includes a running mechanism operable to carry the door wing disposed in a running mechanism housing. A drive motor assembly disposed in a drive motor assembly housing is operably connected to the running mechanism to move the door wing. The running mechanism housing and the drive motor assembly housing are disposed one behind the other in a direction transverse to the transom and door wing and are configured and dimensioned to form a parallelepiped with a vertical height fitting within a vertical height of the transom.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1998Date of Patent: December 10, 2002Assignee: GEZE GmbH & Co.Inventors: Stefan Fischbach, Josef Fuechtmann, Heinz Luithlen, Karl Mettenleiter

Patent number: 6412224Abstract: The invention relates to a door drive system for a wing of a door, a window or similar, comprising a housing with a drive and/or return device, e.g. a closing spring (7), and a preferably hydraulic damping device. In practice, drive housings of this type are cast in aluminium. The production costs are relatively high since housing openings and boreholes such as hydraulic channels have to be cut into the housing (31) later on. According to the invention, the housing (31) is produced wholly or partly from plastic. This enables the cavities which are necessary for the housing to function, such as housing boreholes and/or openings to be made in the drive housing when it is produced, without removing material by cutting. According to another design, the drive housing has several housing parts which are produced separately. The adjacent sections of the housing parts are then stuck or welded together.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2000Date of Patent: July 2, 2002Assignee: GEZE GmbH & Co.Inventors: Rudi Feucht, Ralf Hala, Uwe Käser, Theo Reuff

Patent number: 6363575Abstract: A door actuating system for the leaf of a fire door includes a safety fuse that detaches the fixture between the housing of the door actuating system and an arm on the door or the door frame, which then falls on the floor and are no longer in contact with the hot surface of the door. Plastic screws and plastic bushings accomodating metals screws or assembly plates made of plastic or similar materials can be used as the safety fuse.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2000Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: GEZE GmbH & Co.Inventor: Uwe Käser

Patent number: 6218939Abstract: A security and monitoring device for an emergency exit door has an electrical control device 15 with a microprocessor, an LED current-status display device 11, an emergency off switch device 3, and a key switch device 12 are located in use in a door terminal 20. In order to obtain an especially simple design as well as advantages in assembly and maintenance, provision is made that door terminal 20 is modular in design and control device 15, status display device 11, emergency off switch device 3, and key switch device 12 are designed as modules. These modules are located in under-plaster switch boxes so that an under-plaster arrangement of the terminal is obtained.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2000Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Assignee: Geze GmbH & Co.Inventor: Hendrik Peper

Patent number: 5850671Abstract: A hydraulically damped door closer is described which has a relatively weak closer spring (3c) and stronger back-up closer springs (3a, 3b). If, after a predetermined time period, the door does not arrive in the closed position under the effect of the closer spring (3c), the back-up closer springs (3a, 3b) are connected for the closing. Their connection is therefore controlled by way of a time function element, which represents a simple and, at the same time, reliable control.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1997Date of Patent: December 22, 1998Assignee: GEZE GmbH & Co.Inventor: Uwe Kaser

Patent number: 5687451Abstract: An automatic revolving door drive is described, with a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit with a closing spring and an opener motor, consisting of an electric motor and hydraulic pump. It is a so-called servo closer, with which the door is opened with motor support and automatically closes with hydraulic damping under the influence of the closing spring. In order to be able to use even low-powered opener motors and to produce a relatively compact design, provision is made such that during the motorized opening process the pressure of the hydraulic medium is regulated with adjustment to the prevailing force of the closing spring, in which the closing spring that cooperates with the piston abuts the piston at one end and a hydraulic pressure cushion at the other end, with the same hydraulic pressure being set and regulated by a special pressure-regulating valve in the pressure chamber and in the hydraulic pressure cushion.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1996Date of Patent: November 18, 1997Assignee: Geze GmbH & Co.Inventor: Lothar Singer
