  • Patent number: 5456031
Abstract: A decorative display device having an improved support structure is disclosed which enables at least the exterior portion of the base to be formed of glass material. The transparent housing and stopper member assembly is mounted on a support which may be formed separately from an external base portion which has an improved aesthetic appearance. The support is associated with the base so as to support the transparent housing. The transparent housing may be attached to the support by adhesive, since the support need not be formed of glass material and the adhesively bonded portions will be hidden from view by the decorative base member. The improved support structure prevents any possibility of adhesive being inadvertently placed on the exterior surfaces of the base, thereby improving the appearance of the decorative display device.

  • Patent number: 5448007
Abstract: An ornamental display is disclosed in which an ornament is attached to a follower arm which is integrally formed as a single unit with the follower body. The follower body is guided by one or more guide rods attached to either a cover or a base. The base supports a music box mechanism which imparts reciprocating movement to the follower via a crank mechanism which is rotated by the rotating drum of the music box mechanism and which engages the follower body. The guide rods slidably extend through the follower body so as to limit the reciprocating movement of the follower to translational movement. The ornament may be attached at any location along the follower arm to preserve flexibility regarding the positional relationship between the ornament and the music box mechanism. The device is simplified over the prior art devices, since the follower arm extends from the follower body in cantilevered fashion such that the distal end of the follower arm is unsupported.

  • Patent number: 5412889
Abstract: An ornamental display assembly incorporates a pair of coaxial support members and has a decorative element mounted on each support member. A cam drive system provides one support member with reciprocating motion while providing the other support member with rotating motion. The drive system may include an eccentrically mounted circular cam in frictional contact with a drive disc associated with the ends of the support members, or may include a centrally mounted cam member having an offset cam stub which engages a slide member to provide the reciprocating motion and which may be either in frictional contact with a drive disc to supply the rotating motion, or may be drivingly connected to the drive disc via interengaging gear teeth. In each case, the sole power supply comes from the output shaft of a power source, such as a music box mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5203743
Abstract: An ornamental carousel assembly is disclosed which simulates the movements of a full-size carousel by supporting various carousel figures that both reciprocate vertically and revolve around a central vertical support column along with a canopy. The rotating and reciprocating ornaments are supported on a central support assembly by a bearing arrangement which minimizes the friction developed during movement of the ornamental elements so as to permit a miniature wind-up music box mechanism to drive the carousel. The drive assembly from the miniature wind-up music box mechanism includes a gear drive assembly for transferring drive from an output shaft of the miniature wind-up music box mechanism to rotate and reciprocate the various ornamental figures and a spring which is used to impart the necessary rotary drive force to the canopy.

  • Patent number: 5163878
Abstract: An ornamental carousel assembly is disclosed which simulates a full-size carousel in that various figurines are supported upon a revolving platform below a canopy. The canopy is formed from a flexible material and is supported on the rotatable platform by a canopy support assembly. The canopy support assembly is composed of a plurality of interconnected ring elements and is attached to the platform by various support rods which are spaced about the periphery of the platform. Since the canopy is made from a flexible material and the canopy support assembly may be disassembled into its individual links, the carousel can be shipped and stored in a relatively small container.
