  • Patent number: 5626286
Abstract: A system for mailing an article requiring special services and a method for forming a mailpiece having an interior for carrying an article requiring special services are provided. The system includes an integrally formed envelope and form constructed from a single sheet folded and sealed in such a way that one portion of the assembly provides an envelope and the other portion provides a return postcard and at least one other form for attachment to the envelope in its assembled position. The parts are integrally formed, but removably attached, such that the return postcard remains attached to the envelope until received by the addressee at which time the return postcard may be removed. Alternatively, the system may be constructed from two sheets appropriately sealed.

  • Patent number: 5560185
Abstract: A system and a method for sealing a flapless envelope are provided. The sealing system has a translating station for moving the flapless envelope via a conveyor, an opening station for opening an end of a flapless envelope by means of suction and a sealing station for moistenable adhesive on the flapless envelope to thereby seal the flapless envelope. The method has the steps of lifting a top sheet of the flapless envelope using a plurality of suction tubes, holding a bottom sheet of the flapless envelope using a suction controlled bottom plate, applying a fluid onto an adhesive on the bottom sheet of the flapless envelope and squeezing the top sheet to the bottom sheet to seal the flapless envelope.

  • Patent number: 5507526
Abstract: A multi-part mailing assembly includes a single-layer form of detachable parts related to each other. The assembly is combined with an envelope that both exposes and secures the parts and other contents for specialized mail handling. Spaced horizontal and vertical tear lines separate the form into multiple related parts. In addition, opposite marginal edges are also perforated for continuous pin or sprocket feeding of the stock through printing equipment. Additional vertical tear lines remove the margins after printing, and transverse tear lines separate the forms from each other. The envelope secures the parts after being detached from each other into position within compartments of the envelope along with other inserted materials. Open or transparent areas allow printed information on the appropriate portion of the related part to be seen from the outside of the envelope after it is sealed for mailing.
