Abstract: The present disclosure provides a sway bar for a suspension system of a motor vehicle. The sway bar includes a first lever arm for attachment to a left wheel suspension component and a second lever arm for attachment to a right wheel suspension component. The sway bar further includes a torsion spring device in connection between the first lever arm and the second lever arm to provide variable torsional stiffness. The torsion spring device includes a first torsion bar, a second torsion bar, and a clutch connected to the first torsion bar and the second torsion bar. The clutch is configured to move between a disengaged position and an engaged position where both of the first and second torsion bars transmit torque between the first and second lever arms to provide torsional stiffness.
Abstract: Disclosed are joint active thermal management (ATM) systems for electric-drive vehicles, control logic for operating such ATM systems, and electric-drive vehicles equipped with a joint ATM system for heating/cooling the powertrain's drive unit (DU) section, power electronics (PE) section, and rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) section. A disclosed active thermal management system includes a first coolant loop with fluid conduits fluidly connecting a first electronic heat exchanger and a first pump with the DU and PE sections. The ATM system also includes a second coolant loop with fluid conduits fluidly connecting a second electronic heat exchanger and a second pump with the RESS section. A coolant-to-coolant heat exchanger, which is fluidly connected to the first and second coolant loops, is operable to selectively transfer heat between the coolant fluid circulating in the first set of fluid conduits and the coolant fluid circulating in the second set of fluid conduits.

Abstract: A cast cylinder block for an internal combustion engine includes a first and a second cylinder bore and a shared bore wall. The first cylinder bore includes a first bore wall and the second cylinder bore includes a second bore wall. The shared cylinder bore wall includes a first portion and a second portion. A portion of the first bore wall combines with a portion of the second bore wall to form the shared cylinder bore wall. The first portion of the shared bore wall is an as-cast portion. The second portion of the shared bore wall is a metal matrix composite.
Abstract: A head-up display for a motor vehicle includes a housing, which may be integrated into an instrument panel of the motor vehicle. A combiner is configured to combine an image of the head-up display and an environment in front of the motor vehicle observable through the combiner. The combiner is movable from a position of non-use into a position of use. An image generator is configured to generate the image. A cover may be brought into a closed position, which covers the housing when not in use. The cover has an opening to enable an emission of light of a light beam of the image generator with the cover closed.

Abstract: A humidity sensing device for measuring a humidity of a reactant stream in a fuel cell system is provided. The humidity sensing device includes a humidity sensor coupled to a sensor housing. The sensor housing is adapted to selectively move the humidity sensor to an operating position and to a non-operating position in the fuel cell system. A fuel cell system and a method employing the humidity sensing device in the fuel cell system is also provided.
