  • Patent number: 5975887
Abstract: A burner apparatus having a burner tube in which is disposed a premixing tube having air communication with the air inlet end of the burner tube. An air diffuser bridges between the premixing tube and the burner tube. A baffle plate is supported by and seals across one end of the premixing tube and a plurality of gas/air mixture injection holes are dispersed in the premixing tube between the air diffuser plate and the baffle plate. A gas tube extends into the premixing tube and a plurality of gas holes are disposed along the gas tube in proximity to the discharge end of the gas tube so that air is premixed with gas and discharged from the gas holes to form a gas/air mixture which is passed from the gas/air mixture injection holes radially between the baffle plate and an air diffuser plate.

  • Patent number: 5957682
Abstract: An improved low NOx burner assembly having a burner plate assembly which is attached to a burner head portion thereof, the burner plate assembly having a burner plate and a wrapper, the burner plate having a relatively large central aperture and a plurality of smaller apertures of several diametrical sizes disposed at selected radial positions. The burner plate, attached to the burner head portion of the burner assembly via its wrapper, partially closes the outlet end of the burner head, and flame combustion is partially contained in a premixing chamber, thus effecting prolonged contact with combustion air prior to the gas and air mixture passing through the apertures of the burner plate.

  • Patent number: 5944506
Abstract: An opposed louver air damper apparatus for controlling the flow rate of combustion air to a burner fire box, comprising a plurality of adjacent, rotatable louvers having rubber tips and side gaskets providing sealing between the louvers and a frame, and geared responsive shafts supporting the louvers for controllably rotating the louvers to determinative positions to modulate the volume of air passing through the louver apparatus, wherein the gears in meshing engagement precisely maintains the relative position of the louvers, and the gaskets operate to minimize undesirable leakage through the air damper. The gears form teeth in arcuate portions of the full circumference to limit the rotational movement to only that within the toothed portion of the gear.

  • Patent number: 5722821
Abstract: A process and diluent injection burner apparatus is provided which is capable of reducing the nitrogen oxide content in a combustion effluent, the diluent injection burner assembly provided with a burner head having an air flow passage extending therethrough and primary and secondary fuel dispensing nozzles supported within the airflow passageway and adapted to inject fuel into a peripheral downstream end portion of the burner head. A diluent manifold assembly is supported by the burner head such that upon combustion of the fuel diluent is tangentially injected into the peripheral downstream end portion of the burner head relative to a flame envelope produced by ignition of the primary and secondary fuel so that a diluent shroud is formed about a base portion of the flame envelope.

  • Patent number: 5649819
Abstract: An improved low NO.sub.x burner for firing fuels such as fuel oil, fuel gas and the like having an improved register which includes primary and secondary registers. The primary and secondary registers each have an annular perforated shield covering primary and secondary air inlets. The annular perforated shields form primary and secondary air equalizers which provide a more uniform distribution of combustion air about the register as the combustion air enters the register through primary and secondary air inlets, increasing regulation of combustion air and reducing flame impingement. Annular primary and secondary dampers adjustably cover the primary and secondary air equalizers to slidably adjust the ratio of primary to secondary air entering the primary and secondary registers through the primary and secondary air inlets.

  • Patent number: 5090897
Abstract: A burner assembly for gaseous fuels having an outer housing, a blower and a unitized combustion cartridge. The combustion cartridge comprises an elongated cylinder having a flame holder at a downstream end thereof. The flame holder is provided with a plurality of spatially disposed diffusion plates attached to the cylindrical body of the combustion cartridge such that the center lines of the diffusion plates extend radially and perpendicularly from the cylindrical body. Each plate extends from the cylindrical body at an acute positive angle from the plane of their center lines. A plurality of orifices are disposed in the cylindrical body substantially adjacent the flame holder and a portion of the orifices communicate with orifice extender tubes so that gaseous fuel can be distributed over the upstream surface of the flame holder.

  • Patent number: 4932274
Abstract: An improved characterizing linkage assembly of the type utilized to proportion the flow of fluids in response to motor controls, such as in the control of fuel and air mixtures in industrial combustion systems. The linkage system comprises a cam assembly having an adjustable curvilinear cam band, which is rotatable by a drive shaft. A biased follower rod, bearingly supported for reciprocal movement, is urged against the cam band. Movement of the follower rod pivots a linkage actuator arm which is bearingly supported on the drive shaft. Rotation of the drive shaft in response to a change in a selected process parameter imparts movement to the cam band, the follower rod and thus the linkage actuator arm being the proportional travel.

  • Patent number: 4782856
Abstract: A modulating flow control valve comprising a central valve body with a tubular body member detachably supported at an inlet port thereof and providing a valve seat; a plug member is detachably supported in an access bore of the central valve body; and a valve stem, biased toward the valve seat, is extensive through a bore in the plug member. A valve seating member is supportable by a spring stop portion of the valve stem, and with spring biasing of the valve stem, is urged in restricting or sealing relationship with the valve seat, the valve seating member having a valve seating portion of a selected diameter to permit a predetermined maximum flow rate through the valve seat. A stem modulator assembly is provided to move the valve stem in response to a characterizing linkage assembly. Valve setting is provided by an indicia plate and an indicator pin supported by the valve stem.
