  • Patent number: 5780063
Abstract: An extruder for extrusion manufacturing a rod of hard metal or ceramic with at least one helical inner bore. A plasticized mass of hard metal or ceramic is simultaneously forced through a die and twisted. Either the mass is twisted uniformly over the cross-section of the billet by a spinner immersed in the mass or the spinner is rotated by the mass. The mass emerges either subject to torsion or entirely or mostly without torsion from a smooth downstream channel through the die. A filament-shaped material extends or is injected into the mass to produce the inner bore or bores.

  • Patent number: 5438858
Abstract: The invention relates to a extrusion die tool for producing a hard metal or ceramic rod with at least one twisted internal bore (14). The nose (3) of the nozzle (2) has a smooth cylindrical channel (4). A bearer (6) is fitted coaxially inside the nozzle (2) which has a plurality of elastic threads (9) and/or channels or bores corresponding to the desired number of internal bores for the thread-shaped pressing of a plastic material into the extruded material. The bearer (6) and the nozzle nose (3) are rotary, i.e. they rotate about their longitudinal axes. The pitch of the twisted internal bores (14) produced is thus determined by the rotation speed of the thread bearer (6) and/or the nozzle nose (3) and the rate of flow of the extruded material. Rod blanks with high-precision helical internal bores (14) can thus be produced.

  • Patent number: 5150995
Abstract: A coupling for a detachable, torsionally and axially rigid fixing of parts, in particular of tool components, at corresponding carrier members, such as a tool base receiver or basic holder. At the carrier member a receiver for a conical or cylindrical centering extension of the part is provided. A chuck member can be actuated by a set screw from the exterior of the part so as to force the two members against each other through a support ring surface pairing. In order to provide an easy handling, a favorable application of force between the parts and compatibility with already existing coupling systems having a centrally disposed drawbar, the chuck member includes three clamp-like chuck claws positioned a circumferential distance with respect to each other which are disposed or arranged each in an axial plane of the coupling. The chuck claws are supported by an anchor portion at a shoulder in the receiver and are movable into an undercut interior recess with a radially outwardly projecting clamping portion.

  • Patent number: 4955764
Abstract: Described is a boring tool cooled from within made of a tool spiral and a clamping cylinder. The tool spiral is received in an interlocking way in a recess of the clamping cylinder and is supplied with coolant over its proximal end, which lies in the recess. The tool spiral (4; 44; 74) is received in a spring chuck (12) which, on the side facing away from the clamping cylinder, carries a drive disk (22; 62; 92) that engages in an interlocking way into the grooves. Further, the chuck body (14) has a central internal thread (26) in which an adjusting screw (24) having a central recess (32) is provided, an adjusting screw (24) against which the tool spiral under sealing of its coolant channels (8; 48; 78) can be pressed against the inner space (34) of the spring chuck (12). Tool spirals consisting, for example, of hard metal can be used more economically in this way.

  • Patent number: 4856944
Abstract: A coupling between a tool head and a tool support exhibits, for rough positioning, a holding fixture pin connection. By at least one fastening bolt running in the axial direction of the tool support, the tool head is braced against the tool support. In doing so the fastening bolt engages through a first screw coupling with the tool head and through a second screw coupling with the tool support. The first and second screw couplings exhibit synchronized threads of differing pitch so that, when tightening the fastening bolt, the tool support and the tool head are braced against each other in the axial direction. Further, the fastening bolt exhibits a centering section which, in the assembled state of the coupling, centers the tool head relative to the tool support. The fastening bolt, in the assembled state of the coupling, is received in its entirety in the inside of the unit formed by the tool support and the tool head and is accessible only through a borehole.

  • Patent number: 4813831
Abstract: Described is a coupling system for cutting shank tools with which a stationary connection can be produced between coaxial parts of the shank tool in the direction of rotation and in the axial direction. The coupling system includes a holding fixture formed in a first part for a centering extension provided on a second part to be connected, a drive device, and a clamping device which can be actuated externally by an adjusting device and with which both parts can be pressed against each other through a prop ring surface pairing. The clamping device includes a connecting rod that is mounted symmetrically like a pendulum in the first part and that extends into a coaxial recess in the second part and forms a conical section there, through which the connecting rod can be placed under tension by the adjusting device braced on the second part. This generates pure axial tension which can be introduced, through a large, ring-shaped flat brace, without transverse force into the shank parts to be coupled.

  • Patent number: 4704055
Abstract: A drill is described having a metal bit carrier part on which a sintered metal bit is placed. The bit possesses at least one enclosed helical cooling channel which continues in alignment into a corresponding cooling channel in the bit carrier part. This drill is particularly characterized by very great mechanical and thermal stability, which is not adversely affected in any way by the system of cooling channels in the interior of the drill, so that the service life and cutting power of the drill can be greatly increased. These advantages apply both to twist drills proper and to single-lipped deep-hole drills, for which there is the particular advantage that the geometry of the drill head can be optimally adapted to the particular material to be processed.
