    Abstract: A polyurethane elastomeric rubber composition containing a bio-based polyol cross-linked with a bio-based isocyanate using a urethanation catalyst such as a bismuth catalyst in the presence of a cosmetic emollient is disclosed. The cross-linked polyurethane elastomer rubber is in further aspect of the invention included in a gel after being milled in the presence of a bio-based emollient or mixture of bio-based emollients. The polyurethane elastomeric gel has good compatibility with cosmetic and natural oils and can be used as a gelling agent for these oils among other desirable cosmetic formulary roles.

    Abstract: Cosmetic compositions useful intended for use in cosmetics and personal care formulations are disclosed. The cosmetic compositions include a micronized, substantially uniform powder mixture of a ferment containing a polyhydroxyalkanoate such as polyhydroxybutyrate and an amino acid derivative such as the lysine derivative N6-lauroyl-L-lysine. The cosmetic powder compositions can be intermediates that enhance the textural profile of cosmetics providing sensorial improvement, and/or soft-focus effects, line blurring effects by filling unevenness in the skin, making it appear smoother with less skin imperfections and wrinkles. The powder-based compositions can serve as detackifiers and/or viscosity modifiers due to its ability to absorb oil. The powder provides formulation options for cosmetics and personal care formulas prepared from biobased and biodegradable materials. Methods of preparing the powder compositions, as well as cosmetics containing the composition are also disclosed.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a topical cosmetic composition that has improved non-oily feel comprising: (a) a hybrid silicone composite powder having a spherical shape with particle diameter ranging from 2 to 10 ?m, of which each particle has a composite structures consisting of two interpenetrating polymer networks of polydimethylsiloxane (PMS) and polymethylsilsesquioxane (PMSQ). These two interpenetrating polymer networks are joined together by physical entanglements instead of chemical bonds; (b) a volatile cosmetic fluid; (c) a silicone fluid with viscosity ranging from 2 to 350 cSt; (d) an oil base consisting of an oil, wax, oil gelling agent or the mixture thereof; (e) a surface active agent; (f) a cosmetic pigment; and (g) an optional aqueous gel containing glycerin, glycols and an aqueous thickening agent. The cosmetic composition provides an improved skin sensory feel and a superior matte finish, and is useful for skin treatment, makeup and personal hygiene products.

    Abstract: Fatty alcohol or aliphatic glycol-grafted rubber-like silicone gels with enhanced oil compatibility are synthesized by 1) reacting a fatty alcohol or a aliphatic glycol with methylhydrodimethylsiloxane copolymer in the presence of a platinum catalyst in a reaction medium of a silicone fluid or a cosmetic oil or a mixture thereof, and 2) further reacting the mixture with a vinyl-functional siloxane polymer. The resulting compounds may be used as gelling agents for hydrocarbon oils, vegetable oils and silicone oils. The efficient synthetic process approaches a 100% yield.
