  • Patent number: 4148012
Abstract: An access control system for controlling and monitoring access to selected restricted areas and "alarm" conditions at such areas. The system comprises a central controller unit which repeatedly polls a number of remotely located reader terminals and alarm monitors. The reader terminals are adapted to receive and "read" magnetically encoded card keys issued to personnel and to sense "alarm" conditions at such areas. When a card key which has a proper facility code on it, is inserted into a card activated lock, a card reader at a reader terminal determines whether the card key is magnetically encoded so as to meet all entrance criteria stored in a memory of the central controller. If the card is properly encoded, access is granted to the cardholder at that location.

  • Patent number: 4051338
Abstract: A load responsive switch actuator mechanism comprises a body of deformable material (e.g., an elastomeric material) which deforms under either compressive or tensile forces to actuate a switch. In one preferred embodiment the deformable material is in the form of a solid, generally cylindrical configuration which, when compressed, will expand in diameter to actuate a load responsive switch. In a second preferred embodiment the deformable material is in the form of a generally cylindrical tube which, when subjected to a tensile load, will decrease in diameter and actuate a load responsive switch.

  • Patent number: 4015819
Abstract: This invention relates to the art of pressure vessels and more particularly to a valve assembly for use in a pressure vessel of the type having a rigid container with a deformable bladder therein, dividing the container into two variable volume chambers, one adapted to receive gas under pressure and the other to receive liquid under pressure. The valve assembly which is screwed into a port in communication with the gas chamber includes a slidably mounted stem having a resilient valve member at one end normally urged to seat on the beveled inner end of an axial bore in the valve assembly in a first seating position of the valve member, and urged further into said beveled inner end when the bladder is charged with gas under pressure in a second seating position of the valve member. The inward movement of the valve member is limited by a stop carried by the stem. When the liquid chamber is charged, if the bladder should abut against the resilient valve member, no extrusion of the bladder would occur.

  • Patent number: 3983678
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for charging a hydro-pneumatic reservoir with gas under pressure. The reservoir is positioned between two vertically aligned supporting members, with the oil charging port and gas charging port of the reservoir axially aligned. The supporting member on which the oil charging port is positioned, is vertically adjustable. The gas charging port carries an initially loose fitting bushing with an expander member at its outer end, the bushing permitting flow of gas therearound to permit charging of the reservoir. A force applying member is slidably mounted in the uppermost supporting member such that when gas under pressure is applied, it will cause the force applying member to move upwardly and the gas under pressure will pass around the bushing into the reservoir to charge the latter.
