  • Patent number: 7311465
Abstract: In combination with a placers/spreader having a frame including at least two side bolsters standing parallel to the subgrade path and at least two cross beams spanning the subgrade path forming a conveyor supporting structure. A rail system is attached spanning the frame, and has a roll in/roll out conveyor with a cantilevered support at one of the side bolsters and a support for attachment to and support from the rail system. The conveyor moves in traversing motion across the frame to distribute concrete. The improvement comprises a strike off beam and spreader plow assembly for trailing attachment to the frame of a placer/spreader. We thus disclose a strike off beam with spreader plow assembly which can be removably attached to either side of a placer/spreader to avoid the necessity of relocating the receiving conveyor when the location of the access road changes from one side to the other or direction of spreading changes.

Abstract: A placer/spreader for distributing already mixed concrete from an access road to a subgrade path to be paved includes a frame having at least two side bolsters standing parallel to the subgrade path and at least two cross beams spanning the subgrade path for forming a conveyor supporting structure. A roll in/roll out conveyor having a receiving end for receiving already mixed concrete from an access road and a discharge end for discharging already mixed concrete to the subgrade path, this conveyor being hinged to enable conformation to differing access road elevations. One of the two side bolsters defines forward and rear transport attachment points with a spatial interval between the transport attachment points. This spatial interval permits the roll in/roll out conveyor to be supported between forward and rear attachment points.

  • Patent number: 6588082
Abstract: A twin shaft “compulsory mixer” having a capacity in the range of twelve cubic yards has a static mixing chamber bottom defined from two horizontally disposed and interfering cylindrical shapes. Two centrally disposed elongate rectilinear discharge gates are each defined from an end in the bottom of the static mixing chamber to abut at the middle of the static mixing chamber. At the middle bottom of the static mixing chamber, a tensioning rod is placed extending normally across the abutted ends of the two rectilinear slots. Two eccentrically mounted elongate rectilinear gates are mounted for movement into and out of sealing relation to the rectilinear slot centrally of the static mixing chamber. These gates are mounted centrally of the mixing chamber to a pillow block and spherical bearing arrangement and actuated at the respective static mixer chamber ends by conventional piston drives. Reducing the gates in length, reduces deflection making chamber sealing possible.

  • Patent number: 6527428
Abstract: A first mixer trailer forms the plant frame foundation around a twelve-yard compulsory mixer. The compulsory mixer is mounted for elevation relative to plant frame foundation by hydraulic lifting columns. In system erection, a cement silo trailer is first mounted to the top of the compulsory mixer when the compulsory mixer is at ground level. Thereafter, both the mounted silo and the compulsory mixer are raised and pinned in place by the hydraulic lifting columns so that gravitational discharge of mixed concrete can occur directly from the compulsory mixer to an underlying transporting apparatus, usually a truck.

  • Patent number: 6390727
Abstract: A dowel bar inserter kit is used, typically in combination with a paver. The dowel bar inserter kit is removably detachable from the paver and includes at least two laterally extending support beams supported from the paver extending away from and behind the paver over the formed plastic concrete slab. A plurality of support carriages move synchronously on each laterally extending support beam towards and away from the supported frame of the paver. A suspended dowel bar inserter pan is attached at distal ends to the support carriages, the suspended dowel bar inserter pan defines apertures for insertion of dowel bars through the suspended dowel bar inserter pan. The dowel bar inserter pan has a medial dowel bar insert pan hinge to enable the suspended dowel bar inserter pan to crown with respect to the freshly placed plastic concrete slab. An inserter beam is supported at distal ends to the support carriages.

  • Patent number: 6293689
Abstract: A four trailer portable concrete batching and mixing plant has production volumes of up to 600 cubic yards of concrete per hour of paving concrete meeting exacting modem paving standards. A first mixer trailer with a mounted water tank forms the plant frame foundation at a twelve-yard compulsory mixer. A second silo trailer having 900 barrel capacity has cantilever support from a steered towing wheel set at the bottom of the silo. The silo trailer is backed at the steered towing wheel set to the side of the compulsory mixer trailer and pinned at its cantilevered connection for pivotal erection. Once pinned to the side of the compulsory mixer trailer, a silo trailer contained jacking system self erects the silo utilizing the compulsory mixer and trailer as a foundation. With the silo erected, a third aggregate trailer occupies the footprint vacated by the erected silo.

  • Patent number: 5647688
Abstract: A conventional telescoping frame on a paving tractor is provided with fixed male extension members for insertion to and attachment with a telescoping frame member. The conventional telescoping frame includes paired forward and paired rear side-by-side female tube members. Each forward and rear tube member conventionally acts for the telescoping support of male extension members which attach directly to the cylinder and crawler via a side bolster. Within the limits of expansion, the male extension members co-acting with clamps acting through the female tube members provide for both movement of the point of crawler support and expansion of the paving width of the tractor frame. Into this combination, extenders are added for attachment to the supported end of the male extension members interior of the female telescoping members.

  • Patent number: 5135333
Abstract: An apparatus and process for the placement of horizontally disposed side by side and/or vertically staggered reinforcing bands in combination with a typical slip form or form type concrete paver. The paver receives and spreads fresh concrete, continuously dispences reinforcing bands, then levels, holds, liquifies and finishes the concrete in a single pass. A plurality of inserters which dispense the bands are lined across the width of the apparatus and may be staggered inserters to enhance concrete flow around them. They are threaded with the reinforcement and move through unconsolidated concrete positioned between the leveler and the form.

  • Patent number: 4493584
Abstract: A dowel insertion apparatus and process is disclosed for the insertion of a plurality of joining dowels in freshly placed concrete slabs. Each dowel is grasped each by an individual inserter. Typically the inserter is mounted from a carrier and includes paired tangs having female dowel receiving ends of arcuate configuration at the lower portion thereof which female arcuate ends precisely mate to and receive the dowels. These tangs are connected at a depth above maximum concrete penetration by an electromagnet. A vibrator is attached to the inserter to liquefy the concrete. A dowel storage bin with distributing conveyor enables a row of inserters mounted to a carrier to distribute a plurality of dowels between two intended joints simultaneously, the dowels being evenly distributed the width of any contraction joint.
