Patent number: 6254788Abstract: A filter/sanitizer has a filter housing, provided with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a filter cartridge with a hollow interior, located within the filter housing, and a sanitizer cartridge, with a hollow core, positioned within the hollow interior of the filter cartridge. In a preferred embodiment, the sanitizer cartridge is constructed with an outer fluid-permeable member and an inner fluid-permeable member, the outer and inner members substantially enveloping a space therebetween, with the space containing a sanitizing media bed. In operation, as fluid enters the filter housing through the fluid inlet, substantially the full flow of fluid passes through the filter cartridge, through the sanitizer cartridge and around the sanitizing media contained within the bed, into the hollow core of the sanitizer cartridge, and out of the filter housing through the fluid outlet.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1999Date of Patent: July 3, 2001Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventor: Donald R. Patent number: 6255620Abstract: A filter bag assembly line first forms a tube from a filter media, the tube being cut to twice the length of a finished filter bag and being open on opposite ends. The tube is then vibration welded across its width, intermediate the ends, to form the bottoms of two filter bags in an end-to-end configuration. The adjoined filter bags are separated by a laser cutting machine and the separated bags then passed to an accumulation station. An operator removes a filter bag from the accumulation station and places the filter bag along with a corresponding bag ring into a welding station, which welds the filter bag and the ring together.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1999Date of Patent: July 3, 2001Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventors: Moshe Gershenson, Walter Booth

Patent number: 6221321Abstract: A chemical feeder for use in a water circulation system includes a body, a head attached to the top of the body, and a flow passage extending through the head. A portion of the water flowing through the flow passage is diverted into the body, where the water mixes with chemical tablets contained therein. A strainer is positioned inside the body and a stand pipe connects the strainer to the flow passage. Venturi forces within the flow passage draw the chemical solution from the body and into the flow passage, where the chemical solution mixes with the water flowing therethrough. It is possible to control the concentration of the chemical solution by controlling the flow of fluid from the flow passage into the body.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1998Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventors: Gene S. Fleischer, David Ulman

Patent number: 6197195Abstract: A flow control assembly is provided with a cartridge which includes a body sized and shaped so as to be received in a housing of fluid handling apparatus, such as duplex strainers and diverter valves. The body has a first chamber and a second chamber adjacent to the first chamber. The first chamber includes a first fluid inlet and first and second fluid outlets, while the second chamber includes second and third fluid inlets and a third fluid outlet. A first valve is movably positioned in the first chamber. The first valve is movable between a first position, in which fluid passes from the first fluid inlet to the first fluid outlet, and a second position, in which fluid passes from the first fluid inlet to the second fluid outlet. A second valve is also movably positioned in the second chamber.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1999Date of Patent: March 6, 2001Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventors: Walter A. Patent number: 6082993Abstract: A fuel/air mixture control for an induction heater having a tube-type burner includes a side-venting fuel nozzle for introducing fuel into an induction air stream entering the burner. A multi-speed blower draws combustion air into the burner and an air flow constrictor disposed proximate the fuel nozzle increases the velocity of the induction air stream proximate the fuel nozzle, increasing the volume of fuel introduced into the burner conduit. The fuel/air mixture depends upon the speed of the blower, which can be thermostatically controlled to increase speed upon sensing higher temperature combustion products, thereby maintaining a steady mass air flow and air/fuel mixture.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1999Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventors: Timothy P. O'Leary, David L. Schardt, Vance Willis

Patent number: 6076554Abstract: A diverter valve includes a cup-shaped, substantially cylindrical body with a plurality of ports extending from the side of the body, each communicating with a hollow in the body. A disk shaped top is held in sealing engagement with the body. A plug is rotatably positioned within the body and seals against the body for closing a selected one of the plurality of ports. A portion of the plug extends through the top to permit the plug to be turned. A handle is coupled to the extending portion of the plug. The handle has an adjustable stop for limiting the rotation of the plug.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1999Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventors: Robert M. Jensen, Edward C. Teter

Patent number: 6026804Abstract: A fluid heater includes a housing, a burner unit disposed in a bottom portion of the housing for burning combustible fuel, a combustion chamber disposed within the housing where the fuel is burned and a heat exchanger disposed substantially within the housing over the combustion chamber. The heat exchanger absorbs heat generated from burning the fuel and conducts the heat to a fluid to be heated. The heat exchanger includes a pair of spaced, parallel, stainless steel tubesheets with a plurality of tubes running therebetween and sealingly received within mating apertures in each of the tubesheets. A plastic front header and a plastic rear header are removably attached to the tubesheets distal to said tubes. The apertures in the tubesheets preferably have forged flanges for increasing the surface contact area with the heat exchanger tubes. The heat exchanger is corrosion resistant due to the combination of corrosion-resistant tubesheets, tubes and headers.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1997Date of Patent: February 22, 2000Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventors: David L. Schardt, Kendall R. Carter, John M. Stallins, Charles E. Taylor

Patent number: 5993753Abstract: A dual chemical feeder device treats a fluid simultaneously with two different chemical compositions which may not be wholly compatible. In an exemplary embodiment for application in swimming pools, hot tubs, spas and the like, a chlorinator is combined with a sanitizing canister in a chlorinator/sanitizer to chemically treat the full flow of water through the apparatus with a chlorine-based chemical composition and another chemical composition. In alternate embodiments, the chlorinator/sanitizer is configured as a parallel treatment unit and as a series treatment unit. In the series treatment unit, the full flow through the chlorinator also flows through the sanitizing media in the santizing canister, so that all the water is both chlorinated and sanitized by the chlorinator/sanitizer. In the parallel treatment unit, the flow within the unit is divided into two streams which are separately treated.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1998Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventor: Donald R. Patent number: 5882528Abstract: A device for filtering fluid includes a hollow housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A filter element formed of fluid permeable material is disposed within the housing for filtering fluid entering the fluid inlets, the fluid passing through the element and out the fluid outlet. The element has a generally cylindrical configuration with the permeable material forming a plurality of elongated, radially extending pleats. The pleats are supported by spacers having a plurality of blades attached to a web with channels therebetween. The element is used as a septum for supporting a diatomaceous earth precoat. A regeneration piston creates fluid flows within the filter that cause the element to flutter, thereby displacing DE precoat from the septum for regeneration.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1996Date of Patent: March 16, 1999Assignee: H-Tech, Inc.Inventor: Donald Robert Davidson
