  • Patent number: 8357051
Abstract: A torsionally elastic shaft coupling has an input flange and an output flange which are each used for connecting the shaft coupling to adjacent machine elements. There are two serially connected, elastic elastomer members, and an intermediate member that is connected to the input flange via the first elastomer member and to the output flange via the second elastomer member in such a way that torque can be transmitted from the input flange to the intermediate member via the first, softer elastomer member and from the intermediate member to the output flange via the second, harder elastomer member. A stop which limits the torsional angle between the input flange and the intermediate member is located between the intermediate member and the input flange. The shaft coupling is designed in a particularly compact fashion in that the second, hard elastomer member surrounds the first, soft elastomer member.

  • Patent number: 8033919
Abstract: An elastic shaft coupling has a drive-side interface and an output-side mechanical interface. Both interfaces are intended in each case for connecting the shaft coupling to an adjacent machine element. The shaft coupling has at least two elastic rubber elements which are connected behind one another between the drive-side and the output-side interfaces and the axial material thickness of which increases in each case at a growing radial spacing from the center axis of the shaft coupling. To reduce the amount of rubber of the shaft coupling with retention of its elastic properties, the respective rubber elements are of non-uniform configuration with regard to their torsional rigidity and to be precise are so non-uniform that the torsional rigidity of one of the two rubber elements is always at least one and a half times as great as the torsional rigidity of the other rubber element.

  • Patent number: 6976921
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotationally symmetrical coupling comprising an annular hub made of a rigid material, which is surrounded by an outer ring made of a rubber-elastic material. The coupling also comprises an outer contouring, which is located on the outer diameter and which is provided for positively transmitting torques, whereby the outer ring is reinforced by an embedded, annular, rigid solid body. The aim of the invention is to achieve a quieter operation of a coupling of the aforementioned type and to better protect this coupling from becoming damaged. To these ends, the invention provides that the rubber-elastic material is silicone and that the annular, rigid solid body, on the outside, has a shape, which is similar to that of the outer contouring of the outer ring and which maintains, over the circumference, a nearly constant distance from the outer contouring of the outer ring. The rigid solid body is preferably comprised of a curved, metallic strip material having a constant thickness.

  • Patent number: 6623362
Abstract: An elastic shaft coupling which as a transmission element comprises at least one torsion element with an elastically deformable elastomer body on which axial flange connections are fixedly mounted on the input and output sides. The axial width of the elastomer body increases radially from the inside towards the outside. To reduce or better distribute the local mechanical and thermal load on the elastomer body resulting from the dynamic load, the invention provides for the axial width of the elastomer body to increase radially from the inside to the outside more than proportionally, at least in sections.

  • Patent number: 6582148
Abstract: The invention relates to an elastic shaft coupling having at least one torsion element (1) which comprises at least one elastomer body (5) serving as a transmission element. • Patent number: 5484339
Abstract: An articulated coupling, especially for rail vehicles, for transmitting the engine power from a hollow input shaft mounted on the vehicle frame, to an output shaft of limited movement surrounded by the hollow shaft has a first flange rigidly connected to the hollow shaft and a second flange rigidly connected to the output shaft. Two pairs of links connect the flanges. An overhung intermediate member surrounds the output shaft, with the links being supported on the intermediate member. To obtain optimum central symmetry; the two flanges are aligned, all the links are of equal length and so positioned relatively to one another that the projections of the articulation points in a plane extending perpendicularly to the output shaft form the corners of a square. The two opposite links on the intermediate member are pivotally supported at their center. These two links form an obtuse angle facing in the direction of the output shaft.

  • Patent number: 5066263
Abstract: A resilient shaft coupling, especially for Diesel engine drives, essentially comprises two rigid coupling parts such as a hub on the drive side of the shaft coupling and a flange ring on the end of the drive shaft opposite to the drive side, whereby the hub and the flange ring are connected in an elastic rotating manner via a series of identical elastic annular connecting links. Radial supports for the elastic annular connecting links are provided at one of the rigid coupling parts in order to avoid improperly restraint masses that cause imbalance of the shaft due to centrifugal forces. In order to improve the angular movability of the resilient shaft coupling, the radial supports are provided with angular movability. This is achieved by a metallic ring membrane which provides angular movability between two axially neighboring annular connecting links, whereby the ring membrane is clamped between the connecting rims of the annular connecting links.
