  • Patent number: 11788534
Abstract: An electrically and mechanically driven automotive accessory including a housing, an electric motor, a pulley, and a pulley assist mechanism. The electric motor comprises a stator assembly that is mounted to the housing and a rotating assembly that is mounted to a shaft. The electric motor creates a primary torque flow path that drives rotation of the rotating assembly relative to the stator assembly. The pulley is rotatable relative to the shaft and the rotating assembly. The pulley assist mechanism includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced teeth nested with a conductive body, a rotor body fixedly mounted to the shaft, and an electromagnet that is configured to induce a magnetic field between the circumferentially spaced teeth, the rotor body, and the pulley, which creates a secondary torque flow path between the pulley and the rotor body.

  • Patent number: 11781662
Abstract: A multi-port, rotary actuated valve assembly for controlling fluid flow in a vehicle is provided, which includes a valve housing defining a puck-receiving cavity. A puck is positioned within the puck-receiving cavity and is rotatable therein. The puck has a plurality of chambers that interconnect different combinations of ports provided in the valve housing depending on the rotational position of the puck. The chambers in the puck include at least a first chamber and a second chamber, each of which include a chamber opening on the distal end of the puck. The opening to the first chamber on the distal end of the puck is radially inboard of the opening to the second chamber such that at least two separate and parallel fluid flow paths are provided on the distal end of the puck along which fluid may enter or exit the first and second chambers, respectively.

  • Patent number: 11624363
Abstract: A fluid pumping system comprises a housing, an electric motor, a rotatable first input, a rotatable second input driven by the electric motor, a gerotor including an inner rotor, an outer rotor; and a cam ring in sliding receipt of the outer rotor. The cam ring is selectively rotatable by one of the first input and the second input. The inner rotor is rotatable by the other of the first input and the second input. The housing includes a first fluid inlet passage on a first side of the cam ring and a second fluid inlet passage on an opposite side of the cam ring. Fluid entering a cavity between the inner rotor and the outer rotor flows parallel to the axis of rotation of the first input. The cam ring includes a radially extending outlet port and pumped fluid flows radially out of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 11473575
Abstract: A fluid pumping system for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine comprises a housing, an electric motor, a rotatable first input adapted to be driven by the internal combustion engine, a rotatable second input driven by the electric motor, and a pump. The pump includes a drum selectively rotated about a drum axis of rotation by one of the first input and the second input, and a pump rotor selectively rotated by the other of the first input and the second input. The drum includes a cam ring having a cavity in receipt of the pump rotor. The drum includes a first fluid inlet port and a second fluid inlet port on opposite sides of the drum such that fluid entering the cavity through the first and second fluid ports flows axially in a direction parallel to the drum axis of rotation. The drum includes a radially extending outlet port such that pumped fluid flows radially out of the cavity. The housing contains the electric motor and the pump.

  • Publication number: 20220205450
Abstract: A low profile electric pump arrangement having a motor housing connected to a pump element of a transmission for a vehicle. An inverter housing connected to the motor housing and has a where an electronics control unit (ECU) connects through the inverter housing to selectively supply power to the motor within the motor housing. The recess and the ECU are covered and sealed off from the elements by a plastic cover. In order to obtain a low profile of the electric pump arrangement so it can fit within a desired packaging line on a transmission casing a metal bracket is over molded into the plastic cover. The metal bracket has at least one exposed surface that engages the inverter housing to hold the plastic cover onto the inverter housing in a position so that the plastic cover covers and seals the ECU and recess at the second side of the inverter housing.
