Patents Assigned to Hardware Designers, Inc.
  • Patent number: 4480878
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drawer slide assembly of the type including three telescoping channels including a cabinet mounted channel, a drawer mounted channel, and an intermediate channel coupling the drawer and cabinet channels. The apparatus is characterized in that the position of the drawer relative to the drawer channel may be accurately adjusted without the necessity for demounting the drawer channel from the intermediate channel, thereby greatly shortening the time of installation.

  • Patent number: 4447095
Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-leveling drawer slide assembly. The assembly incorporates roller assemblies intended to be attached to the opposed faces of a cabinet and channel assemblies adapted to be affixed to the cabinet-adjacent faces of the drawer. The device of the invention is characterized in that the rollers are mounted on a short section and the channel assembly comprises a substantially longer section, the inner and outer ends of the channel section being inclined upwardly relative to a central horizontal section whereby, in the inner and outer limiting positions of the drawer, the tendency of the drawer to sag is counteracted by the tendency of the rollers to tilt the channels.

  • Patent number: 4441772
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a bottom mounted drawer slide for supporting a drawer in a cabinet. The device is characterized in that the slide assembly is provided with means for enabling the drawer to be removed and to be replaced with a minimum of manipulative effort. The slide assembly incorporates fail-safe features which assure that the assembly latching the drawer channel to the stationary channel is automatically shifted to locked position responsive to assembly of the channels and is always in a position locked against accidental removal when the channels reach their mutually extended positions.

  • Patent number: 4295688
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved bearing construction of the ball bearing type which is particularly suitable for supporting drawer slides and the like for translatory movement. The bearing comprises a tire defining an outer bearing race, a stud defining an inner bearing race, a plurality of balls captured between the races, the device being characterized by the stud including an axially directed annular retainer surface, portions of which are deflected radially, which deflected portions provide a temporary connection precluding separation of the bearing elements. The annular surface, after deflection, defines a stop or locator surface against which a support bracket is biased in the final assembled position thereof, the corrugated or crown-like end surface formed as a result of deflection, providing a high frictional surface whereby augmented connection between the bearing and the support bracket is assured.

  • Patent number: 4065196
Abstract: The present invention is directed to improvements in the art of drawer suspensions, and particularly relates to an improved front release drawer suspension of the type employed for slidably supporting a drawer within a cabinet while permitting the drawer to be bodily removed when the same reaches an outwardmost limiting position relative to the cabinet. The drawer slide assembly includes a release member carried by the drawer, the release member being accessible from the front of the unit at the outermost limiting position of the drawer to facilitate removal of the drawer. The release assembly is characterized by means which positively deflect the forward motion limiting components into engagement as the slide components reach the outermost limiting position and preferably, in addition, permit reinsertion of the drawer without manual activation of the latching mechanism.

  • Patent number: 3995927
Abstract: The present invention is directed to improvements in the art of drawer suspensions, and particularly to an improved front release drawer suspension of the type used for supporting a drawer within a cabinet and providing an initial stop limiting outward movement of the drawer, yet permitting the drawer to be removed from the cabinet in a forward direction by decoupling the drawer mounted and cabinet mounted suspension components. More particularly, the invention relates to a drawer slide of the type described, characterized by the inclusion of release pawls extending forwardly of the front face of the cabinet in the fully extended position of the drawer, permitting facile visual and manual access thereto, the slide mechanism being further characterized by a shallow vertical profile, permitting the use thereof on relatively shallow drawers.
