    Abstract: A method of forming a pocketed spring unit (10), comprising a plurality of pocketed spring portions (22, 24, 26) arranged in a row, is described. The pocketed spring portions each comprise a portion of coil spring encased in a pocket (32, 34, 36), wherein the axis of the spring is substantially transverse to the row. The method comprises the steps of: forming a continuous coil spring, encasing the spring in a pocket and deforming the encased spring to form the pocketed spring portions.
