  • Patent number: 6203117
Abstract: A hydraulic control unit of an electronically-controlled vehicular brake system includes a housing having a bore. The bore is in fluid communication with a first fluid passage leading to an outlet of a pump. The bore is also in fluid communication with a second fluid passage leading to a master cylinder. A retainer cap is mounted in the bore. A piston is slidably received in the retainer cap. The piston includes a fluid channel providing fluid communication between the first and second fluid passages. A spring is positioned between the retainer cap and the piston to urge the piston from the retainer cap. A check valve assembly is mounted in the fluid channel of the piston that permits only one-way fluid flow from the first fluid passage to the second fluid passage. The compensator assembly provides a controlled amount of additional displacement of a master cylinder piston when the brake system is operating in an electronically activated mode only.

  • Patent number: 5855133
Abstract: The present invention provides means for automatically adjusting rollforming equipment to accommodate a range of different gauges of material such as sheet metal being formed. One rollforming roller (34) on each rollforming head (4A) is mounted on an eccentric so that a force supplied in the direction of material feed through the tooling rollers (33,34) will increase the tooling gap therebetween. An automatic gauge adjustor includes applying a source of substantially constant pressure sufficient to achieve the rollforming action against rotation about the eccentric while allowing movement of the rollforming roller also about the eccentric so that the roll will move against the pressure being provided in the direction of the material feed to accommodate the gauge of material within the working range set.

  • Patent number: 5549361
Abstract: A vehicular brake booster using fluid pressurized by a hydraulic power steering system hydraulic pump. Fluid pressure is controlled by using a pressure regulator in the pump output and by electronically switching fixed orifices in a boost developing valve controlling fluid flow within the power steering system. Additional control is effected by electronically opening and closing apply and relief valves controlling fluid flow respectively to and from a brake power booster for differing periods.

  • Patent number: 5364067
Abstract: A vehicle anti-lock brake system control unit having a control valve for a housing with a control valve bore therein. The control valve includes a sleeve with a moveable armature, and a coil surrounding the sleeve for moving the armature from a normally open valve position to a normally closed valve position. The control valve also includes a valve body having an outer end attached to the sleeve and an inner end seated within the control valve bore of the housing. A pole piece concentrically located within the valve body defines the flow passage through the valve and is fixed to the valve body by a swaged joint, thereby eliminating a threaded joint. The control valve is likewise held to or within the control unit by a non-threaded connection thereby eliminating altogether threaded connections in the control unit.

  • Patent number: 3954307
Abstract: A load sensitive proportioning valve for an automotive vehicle having a source of hydraulic fluid and front and rear hydraulically actuated brake systems, the proportioning valve being operable to modulate the brake pressure in one of the brake systems to provide for a reduced brake effect at the rear wheels relative to that at the front wheels to compensate for the weight transfer during braking, the valve including a modulating piston movable between positions opening and closing a flow path from the fluid source and the one brake system a first bias producing element for providing a force to move the piston element as a function of the magnitude of the deceleration of the vehicle, and a second bias producing element providing a force to move the piston in response to the fluid pressure of the one system and the modulated fluid pressure of the proportioning valve, whereby the modulating effect of the proportioning valve compensates for variations in loading of the vehicle.
