Abstract: According to one embodiment of this disclosure, a method is provided that includes obtaining mole image information; detecting a particular mole from among the one or more moles based on the mole image information to provide particular mole image information; obtaining mole diameter information; analyzing the particular mole image information to determine (i) whether the particular mole is substantially asymmetrical, (ii) whether a border of the particular mole is substantially circular, and (iii) whether the particular mole comprises one or more substantially different colors to provide asymmetry, border, and color (ABC) analysis data; analyzing the mole diameter information to determine whether an estimated diameter of the particular mole exceeds a predetermined threshold to provide diameter (D) analysis data; and generating a plurality of melanoma risk assessments for the particular mole based on at least the ABC analysis data and the D analysis data.

Abstract: The present invention relates to patient monitoring methods and patient monitoring systems for monitoring at least one aspect of a subject patient's motion alone or with one or more additional patient subject related measurements. The patient monitoring method and system can be a useful clinical tool in the monitoring of patients, and in particular, although not exclusively orthopaedic patients, both pre-treatment and post treatment.

Abstract: Activity of an animal heart is detected with an apparatus comprising a housing (20) within which is contained electronic circuitry (32, 34, 36, 38, 40), a power supply (46) for the circuitry, and an indicator (42, 44) connected to the circuitry which can be operated by the circuitry to generate an alerting signal detectable by a user. In addition there is a pair of sensors (28) electrically connected to convey to the circuitry electrical signals detected by the sensors. The circuitry is operative to analyse signals received from the sensors, and upon determination that such signals are electrocardiographic signals derived from a heart beat to cause the indicator (42, 44) to operate so as to generate an alerting signal.

Abstract: A heart rate sensing apparatus includes user mounted means for sensing the electrical activity of a user's heart and for transmitting a signal derived from the electrical activity of the user's heart. At least the sensing means can be mounted on the chest of the user. Signal receiving and processing means is provided, independent of the user mounted means, for receiving a signal transmitted from the user mounted means and for processing the shape of each signal so as to simulate an earlobe mounted sensor.
