Abstract: The present invention provides a composite comprising graphene, a conjugated porous organic polymer and a metalloprotein and to methods of making the composite. The invention also relates to articles (e.g. to an electrode) comprising the composite and to uses of the composite, e.g. in heterogeneous catalysis of oxygen reduction reactions, and in oxygen sensing.
Abstract: The present invention provides a nitric-oxide containing composite in the form of microparticles, wherein said microparticles comprise: (i) a core which comprises silica; (ii) a layer on said core which comprises a metal-organic framework; and (iii) nitric oxide; wherein said metal-organic framework comprises organic ligands comprising at least one amine group, said metal-organic framework is uniformly distributed on the surface of said silica core and said nitric oxide is chemisorbed within said metal-organic framework.
Abstract: A support layer for a synthetic root comprises at least a first region and a second region. The pattern, material, density and/or tension of the support layer in the first region is different to that in the second region. The support may be formed from a knitted, woven, braided or 3D-printed material. The support layer may be comprised within a synthetic aortic or pulmonary root. In at least one region the synthetic root may have a multi-layered structure with the support layer disposed between an inner and an outer nanofiber layer.
