Patent number: 8412419Abstract: A system obtains agricultural attribute data from the field. The agricultural attribute data is classified into a plurality of spatially distributed regions across the field. Samples are obtained to provide a second set of agricultural attribute data. A subset of the second set of agricultural attribute data is associated, by georeferencing, with one class of the spatially distributed regions. The subset is subclassified into respective zones, as may be done by interpolation to define contours. The classification process operates without regard to data that is not in the subset but is also taken from the second set of agricultural attribute data, i.e., the subclassification ignores data in the second set that is georeferenced to classes other than the class associated with the subset. The subclassification is repeated for all classes. An agroproduct prescription map is prepared for the application of agroproducts to the respective zones.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2009Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignee: Helena Chemical CompanyInventors: Steve Seamon, Derek Emerine, Christopher Givens, Subbarao Yarlagadda, Brian Montgomery

Publication number: 20040211234Abstract: The invention pertains to a method for increasing the activity of agrichemicals and controlling their drift by specially formulating an deposition agent with fertilizer. This unique combination has been seen to allow lower use rates of fertilizers as pesticide efficacy enhancers and improved deposition of sprays.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2004Publication date: October 28, 2004Applicant: Helena Chemical CompanyInventors: Greg Volgas, Johnnie R. Roberts, Robert Mack

Patent number: 6541424Abstract: The invention pertains to a method for manufacture and use of a herbicidal formulation containing the free acid form of glyphosate and an acid. Specifically, phosphoric, citric, acetic, propionic, and phosphorous acid and their corresponding salts have been useful in this application. The acid based formulations offer lower glyphosate use rates than standard formulations.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2001Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Assignee: Helena Chemical CompanyInventors: Johnnie R. Roberts, Gregory C. Volgas, James Thomas

Patent number: 6232272Abstract: The invention pertains to a method for increasing the activity of chlorinated phenoxy herbicides by specially formulating said herbicides with a combination of solvent and selected surfactants. This method requires the use of alkylated fatty esters and can also include organosilicone surfactants. This unique combination of components has been seen to allow lower use rates of chlorinated phenoxy herbicides.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1999Date of Patent: May 15, 2001Assignee: Helena Chemical CompanyInventors: Johnnie R. Roberts, Greg Volgas

Patent number: 5906961Abstract: An adjuvant composition containing at least an alkanolamide surfactant and optionally other surfactants or pesticides or formulation aids. The surfactant preferably is reacted with a fatty acid. The process preferably takes places without the use of alkoxylation.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1997Date of Patent: May 25, 1999Assignee: Helena Chemical CompanyInventors: Johnnie R. Roberts, Greg Volgas

Patent number: 5877112Abstract: The invention pertains to new composition and a method for increasing the solubility of various agricultural compounds in water at a low pH. The compounds included in this patent are typically not soluble at pH ranges less than 7 to produce commercially viable liquid concentrates. This method requires the use of tallowamine ethoxylates and phosphate esters to lower the pH of various compounds and also keep them soluble in water.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1997Date of Patent: March 2, 1999Assignee: Helena Chemical CompanyInventors: Johnnie R. Roberts, Greg Volgas

Patent number: 5234919Abstract: A water soluble, highly active formulation of O,O-dimethyl S-(N-methylcarbamyl) phosphorodithioate in a solvent system comprising a lower alkyl alchol and a lower alkyl acetate ester is disclosed. The formulations of the present invention are completely water soluble, even in the absence of emulsifiers or other dispersing agents. They contain greater amounts of the active ingredient and display greater tolerance to low temperatures. The mixed solvent system used in these formulations is desirable since it is less toxic than the known solvents.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1991Date of Patent: August 10, 1993Assignee: Helena Chemical CompanyInventor: Johnnie R. Patent number: 5178795Abstract: A homogenous, essentially nonaqueous adjuvant composition comprising a spray oil and a surfactant blend of a sorbitan fatty acid ester, a polyethoxylated sorbitan fatty acid ester and an alkylaryl polyethoxy phosphate ester buffering agent is disclosed. When mixed with an herbicide or a pesticide, the composition provides one-step mixing of the adjuvants to obtain a more uniform spread of the spray solution, improved penetration and slower evaporation. The composition maintains the pH of the spray solution within a desired range even in the presence of alkaline waters typically used in spray solutions.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1990Date of Patent: January 12, 1993Assignee: Helena Chemical CompanyInventor: Johnnie R.
