Abstract: A hammock having a self-closing bottom entrance slit is constructed with the slit substantially offset to one side of the center line of the hammock. This improves comfort by enabling one to lie in the hammock out of contact with the slit, and facilitates the addition of an insulating panel to the hammock.
Abstract: A thermally insulated hammock is provided with a pair of insulation retaining panels, one secured to either side of the hammock bed. The panels can be drawn across the bottom surface of the hammock and fastened so as to hold one or more insulation pads against the bottom surface of the hammock bed in cold weather. The retaining panels may be rolled up out of the way and tied at the edges of the hammock when insulation is not needed.
Abstract: A system of tripods, bipods and/or unipods is used to support a polygonal array of horizontal spars joined by connector hubs. The array may be extended indefinitely, in order to support a desired number of hammocks. As few as three different stock components are required. Each hammock is suspended from the structure by connecting its ends to a pair of the connector hubs.
