Patents Assigned to Henry Simon Limited
  • Patent number: 4370226
Abstract: A sifting machine comprising a sieve box (11) mounted on a framework (10), free-swinging on a plurality of suspension canes (12), the framework (10) carrying a motor (13) which drives via belts (16) and pulleys (15, 17), a pair of vertical shafts (18), each carrying a throwing weight system (19, 20, 21) the shafts and their throwing weight systems being mounted outside the bounds of the sieve box (11), and having their mass distributed evenly above and below a horizontal plane passing through the center of gravity of the sieve box (11).

  • Patent number: 4202466
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for dispensing pre-determined proportions of two or more different materials from supplies thereof, comprising the steps of dispensing one of the materials onto a moving conveyor band adapted gravimetrically to sense the rate of supply of that material, and when the required rate is sensed as by a strain gauge, dispensing a second material onto the band and sensing the rate of supply of the second material until the required rate is established, continuing the foregoing procedure until all of the materials are being dispensed in accordance with the desired pre-determined proportions and thereafter continuously or intermittently monitoring the composite supply, and in the event of a variation therein, arresting the supply of materials one or more at a time until the source of variation has been detected and corrected, the supply of materials then being continued.

  • Patent number: 4068803
Abstract: A rollermill having a pair of grinding rolls, one fixed and one movable to enable separation of the grinding surfaces thereof, the movable roll being mounted on a pair of pivoted arms, a spring being provided for urging the movable roll into grinding contact with the fixed roll, there being a pair of rigid members held against relative movement by a shear pin for non-resiliently maintaining said movable roll in grinding contact, the shear pin being adapted to fail when a roll-separating force is established in excess of the sum of the force applied by the spring and the force necessary to cause said shear pin to fail, whereby in the event of failure of said shear pin said grinding surfaces continue to be maintained in grinding relationship resiliently by said spring.

  • Patent number: 4042446
Abstract: Apparatus for supplying heat and pressure to a corrugated paper board comprising heated means for supporting a web of the board as it is drawn thereover, an endless belt whose lower flight is adapted to overlie the web while it is drawn over said heated means and a plurality of freely rotatable transversely extending parallel longitudinally spaced rolls engaging the upper surface of the lower flight of said belt, at least some of said rolls being journaled in bearings located in pivoted levers, there being resilient spring means for applying a variable force to said levers, whereby an adjustment of the effective weight of at least some of the rolls on said belt may be made.

  • Patent number: 4014577
Abstract: A pneumatic conveying system has a compressor of known capacity connected to a compressed air storage tank having a plurality of valve output lines which if all open at the same time would reduce the air pressure available to each line below a required amount. Hoppers are provided for supplying to said lines, material to be conveyed and a control is provided for selectively opening and closing the valves and ensuring that not more than a certain air volume demand is placed on the storage tank by a number of lines in operation at the same time. Each conveying line contains a restriction adapted to maintain substantially constant mass flow rate of air therein leaving the storage tank.

  • Patent number: 4003463
Abstract: Apparatus for feeding rectangular blanks of corrugated paper board from a stack thereof comprising means for delivering the blanks onto a first conveyor belt in such a manner that the blanks extend transversely of the belt with one edge only engaging the belt and extending outwardly therefrom to overlie a further conveyor belt transversely spaced from and parallel with said first conveyor belt and arranged at a lower level and which runs in the same direction but at a higher speed than the first conveyor belt, whereby an operator can pivot selected groups of blanks being fed by said first conveyor belt from engagement therewith and into engagement with said further conveyor belt, whereby thus selected groups are caused to fall backwardly and thus inverted relative to remaining groups which are allowed to fall forwardly when in engagement with the first conveyor belt.
