  • Patent number: 8976732
Abstract: A control unit, in cooperation with an interface (IF) unit, a modulation unit and a baseband processing unit, produces a packet signal composed of a plurality of streams. While using as a reference a first known signal assigned to one of the plurality of streams and performing a cyclic timing shift within the first known signal on a first known signal assigned to another stream, the control unit performs a timing shift also on an extensional known signal assigned to a stream where no data is assigned. The amounts of timing shift are given degrees of priority beforehand and for the stream where data signals are assigned the control unit uses the amounts of timing shift in descending degree of priority. For the stream where no data signal is assigned, the control unit uses the amounts of timing shift also in descending degree of priority.

  • Patent number: 8817767
Abstract: A storage unit stores a preamble signal defined in a legacy system and a preamble signal defined in a MIMO system. A monitoring unit in a transmitting apparatus monitors the existence of any communication apparatus which is not compatible with the MIMO system but accepts the legacy system. A channel characteristics acquiring unit derives the characteristics of a radio channel between the transmitting apparatus and a receiving apparatus. A selector selects a packet format based on a monitoring result obtained by the monitoring unit. The selector also selects where to place LTS, based on the characteristics of wireless channel derived by the channel characteristics acquiring unit.

  • Patent number: 8817704
Abstract: A data processing section selects either base station mode or terminal mode and executes communication. A control section controls operations relating to the base station mode and the terminal mode. A receiving section receives an instruction to switch to the base station mode from other wireless device set in the base station mode, in the case where communication is set in the terminal mode. An AP switching section switches to the base station mode in accordance with the instruction. An instructing section instructs other wireless devices set in the terminal mode to switch to the base station mode, after a predetermined period is passed from the time when the mode is switched to the base station mode. An STA switching section switches to the terminal mode after giving the instruction.

  • Patent number: 8737377
Abstract: A plurality of antennas respectively conveys burst signals that use a plurality of subcarriers and contain control information for communications. When a plurality of subcarriers are used, a cyclic time shifting in a cycle in time domain is executed, per antenna, with a time-shift amount corresponding to each of the plurality of antennas. A control unit generates the burst signals informed from the plurality of antennas by complying with this rule. The control unit generates the burst signals by varying time shift amounts corresponding respectively to the plurality of antennas.

  • Patent number: 8665787
Abstract: A data processing unit selects either one of a base station mode and a terminal mode so as to perform communications using packet signals. The base station mode is a mode in which a packet signal, containing data indicating that an initial source and a final destination are not its own radio apparatus, is to be communicated; the terminal mode is a mode in which a packet signal, containing data indicating that the initial source or the final destination is its own radio apparatus, is to be communicated. A control unit starts the radio apparatus by setting the data processing unit in the terminal mode. When a packet signal, which has been transmitted from another radio apparatus and which contains broadcast information, has not been received before a certain period of time elapses after the start, the control unit switches the mode of the data processing unit to the base station mode.

  • Patent number: 8477944
Abstract: An identifier generator generates a second identifier containing information on contents. The second identifier is different from a first identifier used to grant a connection request sent from a terminal apparatus. A beacon transmitter transmits the second identifier, generated by the identifier generator, as a beacon. A connection processing unit permits the connection request by the first identifier stored beforehand in the terminal apparatus, and rejects the connection request by the second identifier. A base station apparatus generates the first identifier containing address information used to access a server apparatus, as an identifier used to permit a connection request sent from the terminal apparatus. The base station apparatus transmits, as beacons, a first identifier and a second identifier used to identify the base station itself.

  • Patent number: 8452895
Abstract: A control unit assigns an IP address to a new terminal apparatus which has approved of the participation. When a server, to which an IP address is assignable, is contained in the ad-hoc network, the control unit instructs the new terminal apparatus to access the server. When the server, to which an IP address is assignable, is not contained in the ad-hoc network and when the new terminal apparatus is capable of assigning an IP address on its own, the control unit instructs the new terminal apparatus to assign an IP address. When the server, to which an IP address is assignable, is not contained in the ad-hoc network and when the new terminal apparatus is not capable of assigning an IP address on its own, the control unit assigns an IP address to the new terminal apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8400969
Abstract: A radio apparatus communicates with a plurality of terminal apparatuses by using a packet signal composed of at least one stream. A control unit divides a certain period into a plurality of partial periods and assigns respectively the plurality of partial periods to the plurality of terminal apparatuses by associating the periods with the terminal apparatuses. The control unit also generates a packet signal for use in control and packet signals for use in inquiry. In so doing, the control unit generates the inquiry packet signals for the plurality of respective terminal apparatuses, as a single packet signal. A baseband processing unit and other units transmit the control packet signal and then transmit the inquiry packet signals, and receive packet signals, containing inquiry results, from the plurality of respective terminal apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 8385255
Abstract: Using as a reference a known signal assigned to one of a plurality of streams that constitute a packet signal, a control unit applies a cyclic timing shift to known signals assigned to the other streams so as to produce packet signals which are to be transmitted finally. While varying the amount of timing shift, the control unit produces a plurality of packet signals and appends an identification number, with which to uniquely identify each of the plurality of produced packet signals, to each of the packet signals. A baseband processing unit and the like transmit, as a transmission rate inquiry signal, a packet signal constituted by a plurality of streams where the amounts of timing shift are made to differ, and receive a response signal to which the same identification number is appended for the inquiry signal.
