    Abstract: An automatic coffee machine (1) includes a sliding block (28) fixedly connected to a housing (2). A brewing unit (5) includes an upper and a lower locking element (7, 8) and a vertical tube section (4). The upper locking element (7) is alternately moved in a brewing position, a stand-by position and a parking position. The upper locking element (7) in the brewing position protrudes into the tube section (4) to attain a brewing chamber (6).     Abstract: A method of controlling an automatic coffee machine, and an automatic coffee machine, are disclosed. The method of controlling the automatic coffee machine includes the steps of actuating a selector switch for a first time and starting the grinding of an amount of coffee beans for a coffee brewing cycle using a first set of brewing parameters in response thereto, monitoring the selector switch for a predetermined period of time in the range of from one to two seconds, delaying the start of coffee brewing in response to the actuation of the selector switch for a second time within the predetermined time period, and then grinding an additional amount of coffee beans and resuming the coffee brewing cycle using a second set of brewing parameters in response to the second actuation of the selector switch. The first set of brewing parameters is used to brew a single size serving of coffee, and the second set of brewing parameters are used to brew a double sized serving of coffee.

A pivot drive serves to move the upper stopper (7) into a parking position away from the axis (9) of the pipe section (4) and into a stand-by position in the axis (9) of the pipe section. A vertical drive for the lower stopper (8) is provided. A driven swivel wiper (32) serves to remove a tablet of coffee grounds. The upper stopper (7) is solidly attached to the turning arm (29). a single motor (10) with a following power divider (16) is provided for the axial drive and for the pivot drive of the turning arm (29) with the upper stopper (7) as well as the drive of the swivel wiper (32).

    Abstract: An automatic coffee machine has a flow heater (1) for preparing hot water, a facility for feeding coffee powder into a percolator, consisting of a percolating chamber (14) formed by a stationary tube section (8) arranged with a vertical axis and two stoppers (12, 13) located at least partly within the flow heater (1), and an axial drive for moving the upper stopper (12) in the direction of the tube section (8) axis, a drive for moving the upper stopper (12) into the parked and stand-by positions relative to said axis, as well as a vertical drive for the lower stopper (13). The upper stopper (12) is mounted on a pivot arm (24) which can be pivoted about a bearing (25) which is fixed in position. The drive for moving the upper stopper (12) into the parked and stand-by positions is an actuator. The upper stopper (12) is constructed in one piece and can be moved in a sealing manner into the tube section (8), by means of the axial drive which is mounted on the pivot arm (24), to achieve the percolating position.

The upper locking piece (16) carries the hot-water inlet into the brewing chamber (17), it consists of two parts, i.e. a supporting piece (67) and an at least partly conical centering piece (68). The centering piece (68) is equipped with only one gasket (28) for the sealing of the brewing chamber (17) on the one hand and the sealing of the hot water inlet on the other hand.
