  • Patent number: 9105080
Abstract: A system (1) for calibrating an image capture device (2) mounted on a motor vehicle for offset from an ideal position and an ideal angular orientation while the vehicle is moving comprises selecting an image (12) in a captured image frame (10) of a stationary object relative to the motor vehicle, which is capable of being tracked through a plurality of successively captured image frames (14a,14d), predicting the locations at which the target image (12b) should appear in the respective successively captured image frames (14a,14d), comparing the actual location of the target image (12a) in the respective successively captured image frames (14a,14d) with the respective predicted locations (12b) and determining calibration values for the camera (2) from the results of the comparison, in the event that the actual (12a) and predicted locations (12b) of the target image in the respective image frames (14a,14d) do not coincide.

  • Patent number: 7949486
Abstract: A camera (17) mounted on a rear view minor housing (5) of a vehicle (1), which captures a plan view image of the ground on one side of the vehicle for display on an in-vehicle visual display unit (13) is calibrated to correct for offset of the camera (17) from an ideal position. During calibration an image of a reference point (34) on the vehicle (1) is captured as the mirror housing (5) is swiveled from a rest position to an operative position. The offset of the actual position of the image of the reference point in the captured image from its ideal position is computed, and a look-up table is prepared, which indicates the position at which pixels of subsequently captured image frames should be located to produce image frames with offset correction.

  • Publication number: 20090179773
Abstract: An image vision system (8) for calibrating two cameras (17) mounted on respective side rear view mirror housings (5) of a motor vehicle (1) for correcting for offset of the cameras (17) from ideal positions relative to the vehicle (1). The cameras (17) capture plan view images of the ground on respective opposite sides of the vehicle for display as images (10,11) along with a plan view image (14) of the vehicle (1) on an in-vehicle visual display unit (13), for assisting a driver parking or manoeuvring the vehicle (1) in a confined space. Calibration of the cameras (17) is carried out as the side mirror housings (5) are swivelled from a rest position to an operative position in response to activation of the ignition system of the vehicle (1). The calibration requires determining the offset of the actual position of a reference point (34) on the vehicle (1) captured in an image by the corresponding camera (17) from the ideal position of the reference point (34a) in an ideal image frame.

  • Patent number: 7123145
Abstract: An anti-theft system (1) for a motor vehicle detects movement in the motor vehicle, while at the same time avoiding false alarms. A movement detector (2) comprises a transmitter circuit (3) which transmits a microwave signal in bursts of around six nanoseconds duration and a receiver circuit (4) which receives the transmitted signals and reflected signals. The transmitted and reflected signals are mixed, and envelope detected in an envelope detector (22). The signals from the envelope detector (22) are passed through three filters, namely, a low pass filter (25) which passes low frequency signals in the range of 1 Hz to 40 Hz, a high pass filter (26) which passes high frequency signals of greater than 100 Hz and a band pass filter 15 (27) which passes intermediate frequency signals in the range of 40 Hz to 80 Hz. The signals from the filters (25,26,27) are analysed in a microprocessor (28).

  • Patent number: 7099638
Abstract: Receiving apparatus (1) for receiving an amplitude modulated signal which may be transmitted on a plurality of frequency channels within a predetermined frequency bandwidth comprises a tuner (3) for sequentially scanning through the channels under the control of a microprocessor (6) which determines the presence of a signal on a channel to which the tuner (3) is tuned. A first validation circuit (10) determines if the received signal is a valid type signal, and if so the microprocessor (6) counts the channels from the channel on which the signal is first detected to the channel on which the signal can no longer be detected is reached.
