  • Patent number: 6478079
Abstract: A recess portion for setting an attachment position is formed in each plate fin at positions adjacent to both longitudinal ends of the plate fins on both upstream and downstream ends in an air flowing direction. Therefore, air passing through the plate fins is disturbed by a standing wall portion of the recess portion around the longitudinal ends of the plate fins. Thus, it can prevent a thermal boundary layer from being expanded in a heat exchanger having the plate fin, and heat-transmission efficiency can be improved in the heat exchanger. As a result, an entire area of the plate fin can be effectively used, thereby improving heat-exchanging capacity of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 6318145
Abstract: A tube expanding bullet is inserted into and expands a heat exchanger tube which has been pierced through collared fin holes of piled heat exchanging fins, so as to expand the fin holes and integrate the tube with the heat exchanging fins. The tube expanding bullet has a first part formed at a front part of the tube expanding bullet and a second part formed at a rear part of the tube expanding bullet whose maximum outer diameter is greater than that of the first part. The fin holes are firstly expanded by passing the first part of the bullet through the tube. The fin hole is secondly expanded by passing the second part of the bullet through the tube. A first rate of expansion of the fin hole by the first part of the tube expanding bullet is less than a second rate of expansion of the fin hole by the second part of the bullet.

  • Patent number: 5921130
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a very thin heat exchanging fin, having collars with tough flanges that are not deformed when the heat exchanging tubes are integrated therewith. The heat exchanging fin includes: a plate section having a plurality of through-holes through which a heat exchanging tube will be pierced; and a plurality of collars having a prescribed height, each of the collars extending from an edge of each of the through-holes and having a flange at a front end, characterized in: that an inner face of each collar is formed perpendicular to the plate section; and that thickness of a base end part of each of the collars, which is connected to the plate section, is thicker than that of a middle part thereof. With this structure, the strength of the base end part of the collars can be greater even if the collars are made higher and thinner. The deformation of the collars can be prevented when the heat exchanging tubes are pierced and integrated with the collars.

  • Patent number: 5806173
Abstract: In forming a heat exchanger, a tube of the heat exchanger is expanded by a bullet, which is attached to a mandrel. The tube is projected from both end faces of a piled body formed by piling a plurality of fins. Each fin has a tube hole through which the tube passes. The fins and the tube are integrated by expansion of the tube. A first projected section of the tube, which is projected from one end face of the piled body and which has been expanded by the bullet, is held at a prescribed position. The bullet is pressed toward a second projected section, which is projected from the other end face of the piled body. As the bullet moves toward the second projected section, it expands the tube. The second projected section of the tube is allowed to contract during the tube expansion. An object of the present invention is to prevent adhesion of adjacent fins and irregularities in fin clearances between adjacent fins.
