  • Patent number: 6974977
Abstract: A bipolar transistor is provided which is of high reliability and high gain, and which is particularly suitable to high speed operation. The bipolar transistor operates with high accuracy and with no substantial change of collector current even upon change of collector voltage. It also has less variation than conventional bipolar transistors for the collector current while ensuring high speed properties and high gain. In one example, the band gap in the base region is smaller than the band gap in the emitter and collector regions. The band gap is constant near the junction with the emitter region and decreases toward the junction with the collector region. A single crystal silicon/germanium is a typically used for the base region.

  • Patent number: 6961041
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal composition sandwiched between a pair of substrates, and a plurality of pixels disposed on one of the first substrates. Each of the pixels is supplied with a video signal via a switching element connected to a first electrode thereof, and is provided with a capacitance. One of two capacitance-forming electrodes forming the capacitance is connected to the first electrode of a corresponding one of the pixels, and another of the two capacitance-forming electrodes is supplied with a pixel-potential control signal. Polarity of the video signal reverses with respect to a first reference voltage with a repetition period, and the pixel-potential control signal alternates between two voltage levels of same polarity with respect to a second reference voltage such that a voltage swing on the first electrodes of the pixels becomes larger than that of the video signal.

  • Patent number: 6958570
Abstract: Inside an outer frame, which is interposed at between opposedly facing peripheries between a back substrate and a front substrate, there is an inner frame which fixes both end portions of plate member control electrodes, which are constituted of a large number of parallel strip-like electrode elements. By integrally forming the plate member control electrodes such that the plate member control electrodes are fixed to both end portions of a display region, a single part is formed. Further, a getter chamber is formed between the outer frame and the inner frame and getters are accommodated in the getter chamber. Due to such a constitution, the operability and yield rate of products at the time of assembling can be enhanced. Further, it is possible to hold a desired degree of vacuum in the space between the substrates for a long time.
