Patents Assigned to HMI Industries, Inc.
  • Patent number: 5658362
Abstract: Vacuum cleaner canisters and vacuum cleaner filter bags are provided with weir members disposed in the path of particle laden air flowing through the vacuum cleaner. The particle laden air flows across the top and/or side edges of the weir members creating a pressure drop thereacross and an area of low pressure on the downstream sides of the weir members whereby particles in the airstream are influenced to drop out of the airstream and into the low pressure areas.

  • Patent number: 5651811
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner having a reduced velocity chamber with a high velocity air inlet, an electric motor, a rotary mechanism driven by the motor for creating a vacuum in the chamber, an outlet for exhausting air from the chamber, which air flows in a selected path from the air inlet, through the chamber and out the air exhaust outlet and a disposable porous sheet filter layer in the chamber for removing solids particles from the air. The vacuum cleaner also has a fiber filter between the filter layer and the motor where the fiber filter has an electrically charged non-woven material for removing very fine air particles in the chamber, intersecting the air path and generally coterminous with the disposable filter layer.

  • Patent number: 5641343
Abstract: A portable air cleaner designed to remove fine particles and unwanted gases from a room to provide for a healthier and cleaner environment. The portable air cleaner includes a high air volume circulating design and operates quietly and efficiently. The portable air cleaner is designed to minimize the unsettling of particles which have settled out on the floor about the base of the air cleaner so as not to aggravate the particle concentration within the room environment. The portable air cleaner includes a particle filter designed to have ultra high efficiencies with respect to particle removal. Disposed coterminous to the particle filter to remove unwanted gases from the filter air to provide for improved cleaner and healthier environment.

  • Patent number: 5522908
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner filter bag having multiple, nested inner bags and an outer bag for sequentially filtering a discharge from a vacuum cleaner, wherein each of the inner bags is adapted to cease filtering the discharge therethrough when the bag has become clogged with particulate matter. Each inner bag is designed to rupture, when clogged, in a manner to allow the discharge to bypass that bag and directly enter the next bag.

  • Patent number: 5515573
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner is provided comprising a canister including a chamber with an air inlet, an electric motor and a fan driven by the motor. The fan creates a vacuum in the chamber drawing air in a path from an air inlet through a filter located in the chamber, and out an air outlet. The vacuum cleaner includes a platform base, the base being detachable from the canister by a VELCRO fastening system.
