Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to a roller tape measure comprising a housing and a flexible measuring tape that is in operative connection with the housing and that includes scale indicia on a surface thereof. The measuring tape extends within an interior area of the housing and includes a length portion that is selectively variably extendable and retractable from the housing interior area. The housing includes a hook in operative connection therewith that is movable between an extended position and a retracted position independently of extension and retraction of the measuring tape. The hook includes a hook bend portion with a measuring edge that extends perpendicular the measuring tape surface to facilitate reading of the scale indicia for measurement. In the extended position of the hook, the hook is configured to engage an article of flexible material to enable a portion of the article to be stretched for measurement.

Abstract: The invention relates to the simple and low-cost production of an electronic measuring tape (10) comprising an external housing (12) provided with a tape exit opening (14), a tape winding-up device (20), a tape (30) which is wound up in the tape winding-up device (20) and is withdrawable from the external housing (12) through the tape exit opening (14), wherein said tape is provided with first and second surfaces. A radiation source (50) is arranged between the tape exit opening (14) and the tape winding-up device (20) for sending a beam to the first surface of the tape (30). A detecting device (60) is placed at the side of the second surface of the tape (30) for receiving the beam and transmitting data representing the received radiation to an evaluation device (70) for determining, from these data, the length of the tape (30) extracted through the tape exit opening (14).

Abstract: The invention relates to a roll tape measure, consisting of a housing upper part and housing lower part, a perforation in the housing upper part for a release button, a spring drum with tension spring placed in the housing, whose end is connected with the housing lower part, a back stop for the tension spring, a flexible tape measure rolled up on the spring drum and a release catch that can be actuated by the release button. The perforation for receiving release button is placed in the housing upper part eccentrically to the housing and release button is connected with a U-shaped element, into which a tongue designed in an elastically springy manner extends, which is connected on one end with the ends of both legs of U-shaped element and with release button and on whose other end the release catch is placed. The U-shaped element with elastic tongue extends over center axis of the housing.

Abstract: A parting tool for parting seams and/or cutting threads or the like is disclosed. The parting tool may include an arc-shaped blade located between two tines of unequal length to effect a cut. The long tine may have a thorn-like point and the short tine may have a spherical thickening above the blade. The tines pass over into a shaft, which is fastened to one end of a shaft holder or mounting. The shaft mounting may include at its other end a pressure surface oriented perpendicularly to the blade and a rotation axle located at a defined distance in front of the pressure surface and oriented perpendicularly to the blade. The rotation axle may be rotatably supported in the lateral surfaces of a casing open within the rotation range of the shaft holder. A stop is provided within the casing for the shaft of the parting tool in the swivelled in, rest position. The stop may be a spring elastic element.

Abstract: A tape measure is disclosed having a hollow casing formed of first and second superimposed casing sections, each including a resilient tongue formed therein. The tongue on the first casing section includes an axial rod extending transversely of the casing to an end located adjacent the tongue on the second casing section. A tape drum is rotatably mounted within the casing and has an opening therein through which the rod extends to permit relative rotation between the drum and the rod. An elongated flexible tape is secured to the drum and is normally wound thereon; and a coil spring is provided within the drum normally biasing the drum in a rotary direction for winding the tape on the drum.
