  • Patent number: 5628853
Abstract: This invention relates generally to foil laminated tabletops and to methods for their manufacture. Tabletops according to the present invention can be laminated over their entire upper and side surfaces with a continuous sheet of thin foil, the foil typically comprising a plastic material. The foil layer ends at an angular lower edge where the side surface intersects the lower surface of the tabletop. By providing an angle preferably greater than about 120.degree. about the lower edge, the lower edge of the tabletop preferably does not feel sharp and the edge of the foil is at least partially hidden from view. The present invention also provides foil laminated tabletops having an upper surface provided with functional retaining recesses for retaining items on the tabletop.

  • Patent number: 5239800
Abstract: A file cabinet door is disclosed whose front carries a contrasting design or pattern. Decorative openings are provided through a front panel in the door in the form of a pattern. A decorative interior panel of contrasting appearance to the front panel is provided rearward of the front panel. A person on viewing the front panel sees a contrasting design by reason of the openings rendering the interior panel visible therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5212355
Abstract: A file cabinet is disclosed which has a door with high sound absorption properties. The door has metal front and rear panels and an intermediate layer of sound absorbing material sandwiched therebetween. An array of openings are cut through both the front and rear panel. Sound impinging on the front panel enters the cabinet via the door and is attenuated in the door and cabinet. Preferably, paper files are stored within the file cabinet with their peripheral edge surfaces disposed towards the rear panel to assist in attenuating sound within the cabinet.

  • Patent number: 4480883
Abstract: An anti-tip blocking device is disclosed for preventing the opening of more than one file drawer in a file cabinet at the same time. The device includes a plurality of locking bars and cam elements vertically stacked in a vertical channel one upon the other alternately to slide vertically therein. The cam elements are engaged by pins carried by the file drawers whereby opening of any file drawer requires additional vertical space in the channel to be occupied. With the free vertical space in the channel limited to the space required for the opening of one drawer, once any one drawer is opened, no other drawer may be opened. The improvement disclosed involves providing each cam element with a cylindrical bearing surface to contact the vertical channel so that the cam element is vertically slidably in the channel while being rotatable about the axis of the cylindrical bearing surface.
