  • Publication number: 20120205364
Abstract: A method and a corresponding tool for heating a metallic workpiece. In the method, the metallic piece is heated in a machine tool by attaching thereto an induction heating tool comprising a permanent magnet structure and by rotating and/or moving the metallic piece to be heated and the induction heating tool relative to each other at a suitable distance. In this case, heating eddy currents are induced in the piece, wherein the energy needed for heating is obtained from the motor of the machine tool.

  • Patent number: 5160410
Abstract: The invention is related to a cylindrical shell structure (1) for paper machine press section, said shell structure being arranged to enclose at least four support rolls (5, 6, 7). According to the invention the shell structure (1) has at least three layers so that the outer face (4) and inner face (2) of the shell (1) are of a resilient, durable material, and the core (3) is of an elastic material having a high shear elasticity.

  • Patent number: 5115813
Abstract: The invention concerns an ultrasound based measurement method and an apparatus for examining dense tissues in particular. According to the method, the measured object (17) is subjected to a high-frequency ultrasound signal, and echoes returning from the object (17) are converted into electric signals. According to the invention, either the object (17) or the ultrasound transducer (36) is vibrated at a low-frequency and the level of the low-frequency vibrating signal is detected from the echo signal, whereby interface locations of the vibrating object (17) can be determined from the maximum values of the detected low-frequency signal in relation to the transmitted high-frequency pulse.

  • Patent number: 4325560
Abstract: A tank truck vehicle for transporting fluid or pulverous material, such as oil, comprises in one embodiment a longitudinally extending tubular shell whose length is substantially that of the truck vehicle and which is formed so as to be sufficiently rigid so as to function both as the wall of the transporting container of the vehicle and, simultaneously, as the supporting frame for the vehicle so that there is no need for a supporting beam frame separate from the supporting tank as is conventional. The front and rear wheels are mounted on axle assemblies which are substantially directly connected to the tubular shell.

  • Patent number: 4318463
Abstract: Coupling apparatus for rotatably coupling an input shaft to an output shaft includes an outer assembly having a pair of inner conic friction surfaces mounted for rotation with the input shaft, a pair of opposed annular piston members located within the outer assembly defining a space between them, each of the annular piston members being connected to the output shaft and one of a pair of friction elements having outer conic friction surfaces. A pressurized fluid is directed into the space between the annular piston members to move the same away from each other against the force of respective cup-shaped springs whereby the outer friction surfaces of the friction elements engage the inner friction surfaces of the outer assembly to engage the coupling. A pin-fork arrangement is utilized to interconnect the output shaft with each of the annular piston members in a manner such that the output shaft, which is mounted in a bearing housed within the outer assembly, can be centered with respect to the outer assembly.
