  • Patent number: 5190496
Abstract: A window fan which can be mounted in a window opening in either a double-hung window frame or a vertical slider window frame and which can be held securely in place without the use of additional hardware or mounting brackets. The window fan comprises a housing of generally rectangular shape, the housing including a front piece, a back piece, and a pair of side extensions. The side extensions have outer edges sized and shaped to fit within the left and right side railings of a double-hung window or the top and bottom railings of a vertical slider window. Each one of the side extensions includes a pair of outer guides and a plurality of panels telescopically mounted within the outer guides. The side extensions extend out from the sides of the housing at about the rear edge so as to permit installation in windows having outer screens.

  • Patent number: 4838151
Abstract: A fan which can be mounted in a window opening without using any tools, mounting hardware or special brackets or used as a floor fan includes a pair of panel sections which are interconnected by a pair of hinge joints for pivotal movement relative to each other from a fully open position to a folded position. One of the hinge joints includes a mechanism for automatically snap-locking the two panel sections when they are at the fully open position at an angle of about 120 degrees. A pair of adjustable and lockable side extensions are provided, one attached to and extending out from each panel section. A fan unit which includes a motor driven fan is pivotally attached to the panel sections for rotational movement relative thereto.

  • Patent number: 4799858
Abstract: A portable electric fan having a base in the form of a large clip, a yoke assembly which is mounted on said base for tilting movement back and forth about a horizontal axis and rotational movement about a vertical axis and a fan unit mounted on the yoke assembly, the fan unit including a motor actuating switch mounted outside of a motor housing is disclosed. The clip type base enables the fan to be easily attached to the side edge of a desk or table top or arm of a chair or the like while the location and mounting arrangement for the motor actuating switch enables the fan unit to be easily assembled.

  • Patent number: 4732539
Abstract: An oscillating electric fan having a neck joint which is mounted for tilting movement back and forth on the top of an upwardly projecting portion of a base and a fan unit mounted on top of the neck joint for oscillating movement on the neck joint about a vertical axis includes a flexible clip element which serves to selectively limit the extend of the tilting movement of the neck joint. The clip element, which is attached to the bottom of the neck joint has a hooked shaped tip which will strike the front wall of the upwardly projecting portion of the base when the neck joint is tilted down about 20 degrees from the horizontal axis and as a result prevents further downward tilting movement. However, by manually flexing the clip element upward away from the front wall the neck joint can be tilted further downward so as to place the fan in a collapsed or folded position.

  • Patent number: 4703152
Abstract: A portable electric heater/fan which can oscillate from side to side over a distance of 45 degrees or 90 degrees or remain stationary and which can also be tilted backward or forward so as to provide a beam of hot or cold air whose lateral extent and direction can be adjusted over two mutually perpendicular axes includes a compartment containing a heater/fan assembly and being slidably mounted for back and forth tilting movement on a neck joint fixed to a main gear carried by a shaft mounted for rotation about a vertical axis on a base. The main gear is coupled by a drive gear to the shaft of a synchronous electric motor mounted on the base. A first and a second set of cooperable limit stops are provided on the base and main gear for limiting the rotation of the main gear by the motor to either 90 degrees for the first set or 45 degrees for the second set.
