  • Publication number: 20140248428
Abstract: A system for dispensing texture material comprises a container, an outlet assembly, and an aerosol valve assembly. The container stores texture material and propellant material. The aerosol valve assembly is arranged to allow control of fluid flowing out of the container. The outlet assembly is configured such that the cross-sectional area of the outlet opening corresponds to the desired pattern. The aerosol valve assembly is operated to allow the propellant material to force the texture material out of the container through the outlet opening defined by the outlet assembly. The texture material forced out of the container is deposited on the target surface in the desired pattern.

  • Patent number: 8820656
Abstract: An aerosol system for dispensing liquid material, comprising a container assembly and an actuator assembly comprising an outlet member defining an outlet opening, a collar member, an actuator member, and a selector member. The actuator member supports the collar member and the outlet member such that movement of the collar member relative to the actuator member causes the collar member to deform the outlet member. Movement of the selector member relative to the collar member moves the collar member relative to the actuator member. Deformation of the outlet member alters a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening. When the actuator assembly is in a first position, the liquid material is prevented from flowing out of the container. When the actuator assembly is in a second position, the liquid material is allowed to flow out of the container assembly through the outlet opening.

  • Publication number: 20140162023
Abstract: A system for applying a coating to an untextured portion of a destination surface comprises a tube member defining a container opening, texture material within the tube member, a sponge member defining an applicator surface and a sponge opening. The texture material comprises a binder and visually perceivable discrete particles. The sponge member is secured to the tube member such that the texture material can flow out of the tube member through the sponge opening. The texture material is displaced out of the tube member and onto the applicator surface. The applicator surface of the sponge member is displaced substantially along a dispensing axis perpendicular to the applicator surface towards and away from the destination surface with the applicator surface substantially parallel to the destination surface to transfer the texture material to newly textured portion of the destination surface.

  • Publication number: 20140120260
Abstract: A system for forming an acoustic texture coating on a surface, the system comprising an aerosol dispenser, a liquid portion of a propellant material, a gas portion of the propellant material, a base material, and a plurality of discrete particles of at least one of urethane foam and melamine foam, where the discrete particles define a physical structure. The liquid portion of the propellant material, the gas portion of the propellant material, the base material, and the plurality of discrete particles are disposed within the aerosol dispenser. The propellant material does not alter the physical structure of the discrete particles when combined within the aerosol dispenser. When the aerosol dispenser is operated, the base material and the discrete particles are deposited on an uncoated portion of the surface such that the base material dries to adhere the discrete particles to the uncoated portion of the surface.

  • Publication number: 20140113076
Abstract: A method of dispensing sprayable material in a desired spray pattern using an actuator member, a resilient outlet member, and a movable member. The actuator member has a plurality of resilient finger projections. The resilient outlet member is arranged at least partly between the finger projections. The movable member is supported on the actuator member to form a dispensing path extending from the interior of the aerosol chamber to the exterior of the aerosol chamber through a valve assembly, the actuator member, and the outlet member. The movable member acts on the outlet member to deform the plurality of finger projections towards each other to alter an effective cross-sectional area of at least a portion of a dispensing path to control fluid flow along the dispensing path and thereby cause the sprayable material to be dispensed in the desired spray pattern.

  • Publication number: 20140072714
Abstract: A method of applying a coating material to a target surface defined by a wall comprises providing a pigmented texture material, combining the texture material with a propellant in a main chamber, operating a valve assembly to allow the propellant material to force the texture material out of the main chamber in discrete droplets, and arranging the container assembly such that the discrete droplets are deposited on the target surface. The binder material, filler material, and pigment material are combined such that the discrete droplets define a physical structure that is visibly distinct from the target surface, where the binder material is provided in an amount sufficient to maintain the physical structure of and to bind the discrete droplets to the target surface. The discrete droplets also define a texture color associated with a color of the pigment material. When dry, the discrete droplets are sufficiently durable to function as part of a final wall surface.

  • Publication number: 20140061335
Abstract: An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser comprises a container, an actuator member comprising at least one finger, a deformable outlet member, and an adjustment member defining an adjustment edge. The container supports the actuator member. The outlet member is arranged adjacent to the actuator member such that the outlet member is adjacent to the at least one finger. The adjustment member is arranged relative to the actuator member such that the adjustment edge is in contact with the at least one finger. Movement of the adjustment member relative to the actuator member displaces the adjustment member relative to the actuator member to cause the adjustment edge to deform the at least one finger. As the adjustment edge deforms the at least one finger, the at least one finger deforms the outlet member to alter a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.
