    Abstract: An apparatus is established which facilitates the cutting and removal of well casing on a single trip into the wellbore. The apparatus is run into the wellbore on the tubing string and provides a rotatable sleeve including grapples adapted to engage the casing, and to facilitate removal of the casing. The apparatus also includes cutting assemblies coupled to the mandrel, which may be rotated so as to cut the casing, thereby facilitating removal of the casing through use of the grapples.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for recovering a wellhead. The apparatus includes a housing, a latch, and a latch device actuator which are responsive to a force applied to the apparatus to separate the apparatus from the wellhead, which force will then cause the latch device to engage an external, rather than internal, profile of the wellhead so that the apparatus remains in engagement with the wellhead. The apparatus also includes a shaft which is capable of carrying a cutting mechanism to facilitate severing of the wellhead.

Each cutter blade has a negative axial rake and an essentially constant negative radial rake. In addition, each cutter arm has a close packing of cylindrical cutting grade tungsten carbide inserts set at a lead angle of about 0 to 10 degrees. The inserts are also preferably vertically offset on adjacent cutting blades.

The first form can be thought of as a sorter in that it will indicate when a particular length of tubular goods is of a different grade than its companions in a lot. The second form will identify the grade of a length. Both forms depend upon magnetizing or inducing magnetic eddy currents in the pipe which are detected and handled by the invention circuitry to sort or to identify.
