The protection-detecting switch is used for detecting if an inserting electrical card is in a write-protect state and is insert molded in the housing. The protection-detecting switch includes an actuating contact (51) and a fixed contact (52). The actuating contact comprises a cantilever (514). The fixed contact comprises a fixing panel (521) and a resilient contact portion (522). The cantilever is downwardly moveable by the electrical card to engagingly push outwardly the resilient contact portion of the fixed contact.

A pair of slots (142) is defined in the front wall and a pair of block portions (122) is formed on a top wall (11) of the housing. The dustproof cover comprises a main body (32) defining a channel (34) in its upper edge, a resilient fastener (36) extending from the main body (32), and a pair of pivots (38). The pivots are received in the slots and are retained in place by a front face (42) of the shield. An abutting portion (364) of the resilient fastener abuts the block portions in a closed position. A spring end portion (366) extending through the channel is depressed to open the closed dustproof cover.

    Abstract: An electrical card connector comprises a main body, a top shield covering a top portion of the main body, a bottom shield covering a bottom portion of the main body and a stand-off attached to the top shield. The top shield forms two latches on a side wall thereof. The stand-off includes a base and a terminal portion extending from one edge of the base for being mounted on a circuit board. The base defines two rectangular holes for extension and engagement with the latches of the top shield, and a spring tab for pressing against the top shield. The terminal portion defines a screw hole for threadedly mounting on the circuit board by a bolt.

    Abstract: An electrical connector comprises an insulative housing, a number of terminals received in the housing, a pair of grounding members, and a shield. The housing defines a mating opening at a front face thereof. Each of the two side walls of the housing defines a recess, and a pair of grooves is defined in both lateral walls of the recesses and in communication with a bottom of the housing. Each grounding member comprises a main body for inserting into the grooves of the housing by two edges of the main body from the bottom of the housing, and a solder pad for soldering to the printed circuit board. A protruding rib is formed on the main body. The shield covers the housing, two resilient arms extending inwardly from both lateral plates of the shield to electrically contact the protruding rib of the grounding member for grounding.
