Publication number: 20090000669Abstract: A fuel cutoff valve 10 has a float assembly 52 and an upper valve plug 60 located in a valve chest 30S defined by a casing 20. The float assembly 52 has a valve support member 55 formed in its upper portion to support the upper valve plug 60. The upper valve plug 60 has a support convex 66b held on a support plane 56a of the valve support member 55, where a center of gravity of the upper valve plug 60 is located below a supporting point 55a around which the support convex 66b is balanced on the valve support member 55. The upper valve plug 60 includes a first valve section 61 and a second valve section 65. The first valve section 61 has a first valve body 62 and a sheet member 64. The first valve body 62 is made of POM (polyoxymethylene), while the second valve section 65 is made of PA6 (polyamide) containing 30% of glass fibers. The second valve section 65 is accordingly structured to have a lower density than the first valve body 62.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2008Publication date: January 1, 2009Applicants: TOYODA GOSEI CO., LTD., HONDA R&D CO., LTD.Inventors: Hiroaki Kito, Kenichiro Kaneko, Hiroshi Nishi, Shoichiro Kumagai, Hiroshi Kitamura, Yasuhiro Hasegawa, Shoji Uhara

Publication number: 20080134996Abstract: An engine-driven work machine is provided in which an engine/work machine unit (5) is housed in a box (30) and a cooling fan (15) for generating a flow of cooling air from an air inlet (39) to an air outlet (40) via the surroundings of the engine/work machine unit (5) is disposed within the box (30), wherein a gas/liquid separation chamber (32) for restricting the flow of cooling air is provided between the air inlet (39) and the engine/work machine unit (5), and the gas/liquid separation chamber (32) is provided with a first wall face (32a1) for changing upward flow of cooling air into a lateral direction after it has collided with the first wall face (32a1) and a second wall face (32a2) for changing the lateral direction of flow into an obliquely downward direction. This enables mist contained in cooling air taken into the box to be separated and removed effectively before the cooling air reaches the surroundings of the engine/generator unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: HONDA R&D CO., LTD.Inventors: Taiyo Onodera, Hitoshi Yuki

Publication number: 20070131377Abstract: A mold and a die-cast manufacturing method for the die-cast product, in which a main frame which is contiguously formed with a head pipe constitutes a portion of a hollow light-weight-metal-made vehicle-body frame. The mold includes a core for forming an inner space of the hollow vehicle-body frame. The core includes a core body and a plurality of splints mounted on the core body, the splints having approximately elliptical cross-sectional shapes. The long axes direction of ellipses of the splints are set parallel to a mold split surface of the mold. As a result, measurement of the positional accuracy of the splints is facilitated, a clearance between the splint and the mold can decrease by increasing the dimensional accuracy of splint mounting portions of the mold based on sizes of the splints, and the frame can be manufactured with high dimensional accuracy.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2006Publication date: June 14, 2007Applicant: HONDA R&D CO., LTD.Inventors: Toshimitsu Suzuki, Yoshitaka Seki, Jun Hariu, Shin Watanabe, Koichi Ota, Satoshi Hirayanagi, Takashi Doi, Yoshiyuki Kurayoshi

Publication number: 20060101906Abstract: A pressure sensitive paint is applied to the surface of a measurement object main body of a wind tunnel and is irradiated with an excitation light from a luminescent sheet and excited to generate phosphorescence so that an intensity of the phosphorescence that corresponds to the pressure on the surface of the measurement object main body can be measured to determine a pressure distribution on the surface. The luminescent sheet is disposed within the measurement object main body made of a light transmitting material. The entirety of the pressure sensitive paint can be uniformly irradiated with the excitation light without applying the excitation light from a plurality of light sources disposed outside the measurement object main body, thereby enhancing the accuracy with which the pressure distribution is measured. The flexible luminescent sheet conforms to the shape of the three-dimensional curved surface of the measurement object main body.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2005Publication date: May 18, 2006Applicant: HONDA R&D CO., LTD.Inventor: Masaki Kobayashi

Patent number: 5839754Abstract: After the pressure of the gas in a first chamber reaches the maximum value, the cover for the air bag is broken up. The cover is broken at the pressure of the maximum value, and there is almost no waste of the gas energy. Thus, the cover can be broken up by the small amount of the gas energy and the heat losses are extremely reduced, so that the amount of the gas generating agents are made small. Also, the cover is broken by the burning of the first chamber and the air bag is inflated at the first stage by expansion and inertia of the gas. There is provided a mechanical timing for ignition delay, and then the bag is fully inflated by the burning of a second chamber. Therefore, the bag can be desirably inflated.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1996Date of Patent: November 24, 1998Assignees: Honda R&D Co. Ltd., Nippon Koki Co.
